HELP. Aheila. when i tried to create a new page–valentine-7–i couldn’t get the script to work. it looked like and i noticed some other options weren’t there either. I noticed there was a trash next to one of your stories as well(i hope i didn’t do that)…am i doing something wrong?
Every thing seems fine. The options “edit” “whatever” and “trash” appears automatically when you hover over a page’s name. Unless you then click on trash, there won’t be a problem.
Your page seems to be in there saved as a draft. Just go to the page list and click on Antonio 7 and you’ll be able to access it, finish writing it and publish it.
If you still hit a wall, let me know. Worst case scenario, I’ll give you my email and post it for you! 😉
WOW. the trash thing–don’t worry, i over-reacted on that. I have no idea what’s going on w/script…em surrounded by hmm…that’s a new one me…? I’ll experiment…
Have you accidently clicked on HTML display by any chance?
When you are writing your page, upper right corner of the text field, there is a “visual” and a “html” tab. Click on “visual”. The script will disappear and you’ll just see the formating. The tool bar will also come back. 😉

I would like to yell at you all. I’m having writer’s block with the next chapter of Stars. It has violence, and one seriously pissed off Beetlejuice. All of you have made me extremely happy with all of your comments. Do you know how difficult it is to write a dark chapter when you have a freakin’ sunny disposition?!?!?! Everyone I’ve talked to so far has suggested I think of something that makes me angry. But as soon as I look at this page or think of all those comments, it goes straight to hell in one adorable hand basket. Okay. I’m done now. Back to freaking out about the hole in my mouth.
I think there is some “NaSty” fatigue going around (Laugh!)…I kind of thought that would happen after Valentine’s Day…a WHOLE month of romance writing is ALOT! The stats say we over 2,100 views! But–most of that is the discussion pages lately…not as much in reading/writing…I think we are all a little destracted by life and…oh, a little something called Black Magic Sanction! (Hah!) I’m going to buckle down and finish my story, VBDay, this weekend!
IDEA: Kylie-chan, i was thinking about Kim and Alyssa’s chibis…I was thinking maybe Kim’s godmother needs a little “somethin’ somethin'”…some bling…how about a tiara or crown or headband, necklace, jewelry, a staff, a wand…something to differentiate her from ours and ellevate her status…Alyssa–how about giving her a “familiar” a little “Jenks-like” winged being of some kind. just an idea…

EXCELLENT! (I’ve already read BMS about 6 wks ago, and I’m ready to re-read the book to prepare for writing review(s)) So–I’m chomping at the bit to talk BMS (1st 7 chapters for now). I think an open forum is cool, but I would encourage people to form questions to herd us all into a group response…ie–what do we think of Al in the first 7 chapters? What do we make of Ivy/Glenn? That kind of thing…

Oops! I keep forgetting to log out. Hey, I want to float the idea of asking Kim to create a 3rd side page(and delete the first). I think it’s mutually beneficial for both us and Kim traffic wise…Thoughts?
That would be the ideal place for it. But if we ask her to put a side page it would have to be discussion for the whole book, right? Unless you want to ask if she would put a few?
Or do you want to have mid-book discussion here and then whole book discussion there?
Topical discussion is a cool idea! I love it! I can edit the page to note specific topics of interest, as well as say to post whatever is on your mind about it. Maybe you would be a good person to come up with chapter groupings that make sense (i.e. 8-?? for the next one) and discussion topics for each group of chapters, since you’ve read it already (lucky!!). You up for it? 🙂

Attention NaSty Nine!
In view of the website, I’ve got a few ideas. Firstly, I’ve got a page for the original NaSty Nine. In view of Kylie’s VERY COOL AWESOME AMAZING *cough* focus *cough* chibi’s coming out, I was thinking that each of you can write a (if you want to) a small ‘summary’ or introduction of yoruself. Soemthing like:
Alyss was stalked into doing NaStyRoMo by Antonio. She writes fan fiction when she’s not bowing under peer pressure and posts the occasional blog post. She started writing when…
Something like that.
Then, i’m going to have a page for Kim Harrison and the Hollows, just a general page that says – This woudlnt’ have been possible had it not been for Kim Harrison, author of The Hollows. I’ll then give a short summary of her (most probably nicked and modified from Wikipedia) and then once again proclaim our undying loyalty and thanks, lol. If Kylie’s going to draw the fairy god mother picture i’ll put that there as well (as well as links to her website ect).
Then, when this is all done, I’ll put all our stories up there. 🙂

I just finished a writing session, so my brain is “mooshy” but–yes, a mission statement and individual statements are cool (when i can get my brain into drive again)…I’ve got some ideas about a plan of inquiry to be made to other authors, etc eventually (I like the model Kim has put forth: a writer sanctions “play” on his or her website among like-minded people, and eventually we link all these “hep-cats” together in an ever growing circle.) but–more on that later…

Guys, I was checking the stats–do you realize since Tiffany started the NaSty wordpress site(feb 2nd), there have been almost 1,500 views! I know we’re bouncing alot between each other’s stuff(and each view of this discussion page counts as well), but still that’s alot! And, I think if you add up all the “replys” and “comments” from Kim’s side pages, 3rd party sites, and NaSty sites, we are approaching 800 replys comments, something like that!?

That’s a good idea. And yeah, wordpress makes it very easy to track visits, where people click from, etc. I used it all the time on the steamed blog. Very fun.
Okay, I hope it’s not against the rules to try to get our NaStyRoMo stories published. I found out last night that subs for the “Steampunk Reloaded” Anthology closes today (edited by Jeff VanderMeer). So, I submissted “Why you should never, ever, toy with the affections of a girl with a mad scientist father.”
One of the rules was that is was supposed to have been published within the past ten years, on any website or in any print puiblication.
So I wrote: At about 2,000 words, the story was orriginally part of an online compilation of otherworldly love stories created for “National Short Story of Romance Month” (NaStyRoMo), a project created by Antonio Rich.
Well, that was the fastest rejection ever. Sigh. “that’s a great title, and it’s a lively story. But it’s not quite right for the anthology” I’m not sure if I’ll everbe able to decipher rejection letters? Was it too comercial? Riddled with mistakes? Didn’t like the MC’s name? Oh well, I’ll find a home for it eventually, lol. The person I wrote it for is all for publishing it, lol (she was very cheered by me sneding her ex to africa, even if it was a story, lol).

I was with some friends over the weekend and I was “talking you up”(I’m surprised your ears weren’t burning), and they were following the links to your assorted pages(they liked your hair by the way!). So, there is some alchemy going on–people discovering new avenues, artistically and socially…as Martha Stewart would say “it’s a good thing.” 😉
How sweet of you! No, my ears didn’t burn but I guess I was just too involved with the papers I was grading. First papers from my first students and I am deeply disappointed by some of them. I’m under the impression that because I’m funny, about their age (some are actually older than me) and blue-haired, they are not taking me seriously. Too bad for them…
Anyway, it’s nice to know you like my writing enough to talk about it. And posting a snippet of story a week is definitely a good way for me to stay motivated. Having readers is an incredible confidence booster! Let’s hope it’s enough to push me to finish my first novel (which is another project entirely… and in French so no teasers for you guys.)
Hi guys! I can’t wait to get caught up and read what’s been posted over the last few days! I took a little weekend roadtrip and did some writing in the car, so I’ll post my next part as soon as I go back through it and type it up. I’m glad I’m not the only one wanting to extend this out – I’m still pretty far from coming full circle with my tale and a full work week looms in front of me in just a few hours from now :(.
Speaking of wine (above), at dinner the other night there was a wine called “Scout’s Honor” on the menu, so of course I had to order it ;). I also found a jazz bar called Antonio’s :).
Oooooo, a jazz bar! Once at a county fair, I saw a food trailer that was called “Antonio’s Italian Sausage.” I’m glad to see my name attached to something a lttle “classier.”
I loved that story Suzanne. I know a few people I would love to force to grow up. Very nice.

I really liked this one, Suzanne! I think you’ve taught us all a little lesson about pacing: a beginning, middle, and end, all completed at a smooth, comfortable pace, with an economy of words.
I’m so glad you participated. I think the vampire giraffe’s preference for eating seniors over kids(who taste like old socks) may, along with Kylie’s NaStyRoMo cheerleader, be my favorite things about NaSty so far! (LOL)

I’ve had people ask me, already, what the plans are for next year!? If I had to say, I think it would be cool to show Kim’s example to other authors, blogs, reading/book sites, and ask them if they would like to participate. I think it would be interesting to see romance stories from different genres (SciFi,mystery,steampunk,traditional romance,YA romance,etc.). It would allow us to bounce around and try our hand at other forms. And–Also, create more traffic among book lovers visiting other sites/author blogs. A win-win for everybody. And, most importantly–FUN! Anyhoo, a long way to go for those discussions. We’ve still got more to do this year, right? 🙂

HELP. Aheila. when i tried to create a new page–valentine-7–i couldn’t get the script to work. it looked like and i noticed some other options weren’t there either. I noticed there was a trash next to one of your stories as well(i hope i didn’t do that)…am i doing something wrong?
Every thing seems fine. The options “edit” “whatever” and “trash” appears automatically when you hover over a page’s name. Unless you then click on trash, there won’t be a problem.
Your page seems to be in there saved as a draft. Just go to the page list and click on Antonio 7 and you’ll be able to access it, finish writing it and publish it.
If you still hit a wall, let me know. Worst case scenario, I’ll give you my email and post it for you! 😉

Have you accidently clicked on HTML display by any chance?
When you are writing your page, upper right corner of the text field, there is a “visual” and a “html” tab. Click on “visual”. The script will disappear and you’ll just see the formating. The tool bar will also come back. 😉

I would like to yell at you all. I’m having writer’s block with the next chapter of Stars. It has violence, and one seriously pissed off Beetlejuice. All of you have made me extremely happy with all of your comments. Do you know how difficult it is to write a dark chapter when you have a freakin’ sunny disposition?!?!?! Everyone I’ve talked to so far has suggested I think of something that makes me angry. But as soon as I look at this page or think of all those comments, it goes straight to hell in one adorable hand basket. Okay. I’m done now. Back to freaking out about the hole in my mouth.
I think there is some “NaSty” fatigue going around (Laugh!)…I kind of thought that would happen after Valentine’s Day…a WHOLE month of romance writing is ALOT! The stats say we over 2,100 views! But–most of that is the discussion pages lately…not as much in reading/writing…I think we are all a little destracted by life and…oh, a little something called Black Magic Sanction! (Hah!) I’m going to buckle down and finish my story, VBDay, this weekend!

Topical discussion is a cool idea! I love it! I can edit the page to note specific topics of interest, as well as say to post whatever is on your mind about it. Maybe you would be a good person to come up with chapter groupings that make sense (i.e. 8-?? for the next one) and discussion topics for each group of chapters, since you’ve read it already (lucky!!). You up for it? 🙂

In view of the website, I’ve got a few ideas. Firstly, I’ve got a page for the original NaSty Nine. In view of Kylie’s VERY COOL AWESOME AMAZING *cough* focus *cough* chibi’s coming out, I was thinking that each of you can write a (if you want to) a small ‘summary’ or introduction of yoruself. Soemthing like:
Alyss was stalked into doing NaStyRoMo by Antonio. She writes fan fiction when she’s not bowing under peer pressure and posts the occasional blog post. She started writing when…
Something like that.
Then, i’m going to have a page for Kim Harrison and the Hollows, just a general page that says – This woudlnt’ have been possible had it not been for Kim Harrison, author of The Hollows. I’ll then give a short summary of her (most probably nicked and modified from Wikipedia) and then once again proclaim our undying loyalty and thanks, lol. If Kylie’s going to draw the fairy god mother picture i’ll put that there as well (as well as links to her website ect).
Then, when this is all done, I’ll put all our stories up there. 🙂

I just finished a writing session, so my brain is “mooshy” but–yes, a mission statement and individual statements are cool (when i can get my brain into drive again)…I’ve got some ideas about a plan of inquiry to be made to other authors, etc eventually (I like the model Kim has put forth: a writer sanctions “play” on his or her website among like-minded people, and eventually we link all these “hep-cats” together in an ever growing circle.) but–more on that later…

Okay, I hope it’s not against the rules to try to get our NaStyRoMo stories published. I found out last night that subs for the “Steampunk Reloaded” Anthology closes today (edited by Jeff VanderMeer). So, I submissted “Why you should never, ever, toy with the affections of a girl with a mad scientist father.”
One of the rules was that is was supposed to have been published within the past ten years, on any website or in any print puiblication.
So I wrote: At about 2,000 words, the story was orriginally part of an online compilation of otherworldly love stories created for “National Short Story of Romance Month” (NaStyRoMo), a project created by Antonio Rich.

Well, that was the fastest rejection ever. Sigh. “that’s a great title, and it’s a lively story. But it’s not quite right for the anthology” I’m not sure if I’ll everbe able to decipher rejection letters? Was it too comercial? Riddled with mistakes? Didn’t like the MC’s name? Oh well, I’ll find a home for it eventually, lol. The person I wrote it for is all for publishing it, lol (she was very cheered by me sneding her ex to africa, even if it was a story, lol).
Almost forgot to say – I have a new Nasty part up. You know where to go. 😉

Hmmm…That might not be such a bad idea, especially if we follow thru on inviting other authors/book sites to create their own side pages next year. It might be good to have a site where people could go and get info/tech help, etc…listen to me! Talking about next year already!
*laughs* well, that was what I was thinking off… I’m probably going to be an ML during NaNo as well this year, so i’ll then let them know we’re hosting it and they’ll advertise us when they ahve their NaNo send off note. 🙂 Right, i’ll create the website.

A few days ago, one of Antonio’s comments made me realized that, contrary to my belief, you guys might not be aware that my blog was a writing project before NaStyRoMo hit it.

I was with some friends over the weekend and I was “talking you up”(I’m surprised your ears weren’t burning), and they were following the links to your assorted pages(they liked your hair by the way!). So, there is some alchemy going on–people discovering new avenues, artistically and socially…as Martha Stewart would say “it’s a good thing.” 😉
How sweet of you! No, my ears didn’t burn but I guess I was just too involved with the papers I was grading. First papers from my first students and I am deeply disappointed by some of them. I’m under the impression that because I’m funny, about their age (some are actually older than me) and blue-haired, they are not taking me seriously. Too bad for them…
Anyway, it’s nice to know you like my writing enough to talk about it. And posting a snippet of story a week is definitely a good way for me to stay motivated. Having readers is an incredible confidence booster! Let’s hope it’s enough to push me to finish my first novel (which is another project entirely… and in French so no teasers for you guys.)

Hi guys! I can’t wait to get caught up and read what’s been posted over the last few days! I took a little weekend roadtrip and did some writing in the car, so I’ll post my next part as soon as I go back through it and type it up. I’m glad I’m not the only one wanting to extend this out – I’m still pretty far from coming full circle with my tale and a full work week looms in front of me in just a few hours from now :(.
Speaking of wine (above), at dinner the other night there was a wine called “Scout’s Honor” on the menu, so of course I had to order it ;). I also found a jazz bar called Antonio’s :).
Oooooo, a jazz bar! Once at a county fair, I saw a food trailer that was called “Antonio’s Italian Sausage.” I’m glad to see my name attached to something a lttle “classier.”

I really liked this one, Suzanne! I think you’ve taught us all a little lesson about pacing: a beginning, middle, and end, all completed at a smooth, comfortable pace, with an economy of words.
I’m so glad you participated. I think the vampire giraffe’s preference for eating seniors over kids(who taste like old socks) may, along with Kylie’s NaStyRoMo cheerleader, be my favorite things about NaSty so far! (LOL)

LOL, I have wine. A whole bottle my customers didn’t drink. And, sadly, lol, I don’t drink!
So, anybody want’s Sauvignon Blanch? It’s South African wine – trust me, there’s no better.
I’ll pass on the wine…now if you are offering tequilla, count me in. Actually I’m not much of drinker either since one tends to make me sleepy.
LOL, the only thing I might still drink sometimes (if it’s cold) is spiced wine. And, I have a bottle Vodka in my drawer for those really strange evenings. But, i have trouble enough keeping my head together sober. Me drunk is not a good thing…
I’m a huge wine drinker. Well, I’m French so you probably could’ve guessed that one.

I’ve had people ask me, already, what the plans are for next year!? If I had to say, I think it would be cool to show Kim’s example to other authors, blogs, reading/book sites, and ask them if they would like to participate. I think it would be interesting to see romance stories from different genres (SciFi,mystery,steampunk,traditional romance,YA romance,etc.). It would allow us to bounce around and try our hand at other forms. And–Also, create more traffic among book lovers visiting other sites/author blogs. A win-win for everybody. And, most importantly–FUN! Anyhoo, a long way to go for those discussions. We’ve still got more to do this year, right? 🙂
