Hi guys! Miss you all. It’s been years. Just wanted to touch base, and tell you my first book made it out 🙂 http://www.amazon.com/George-Knows-Mindy-Mymudes-ebook/dp/B00H2YO68O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394739262&sr=8-1&keywords=george+knows+mindy+mymudes I even have an author page on FB, and I’m always giving away things. Mainly because I like making stuff.

  3. May 22, 2013 at 11:59 pm

I still love you all. Things are just weird. Starting a new job. Lots of complicated stuff I can’t write here. Is everyone in FB? Maybe we could do I closed FB group?

  4. April 22, 2013 at 1:39 pm

Haven’t written much. Apparently George sucks, and since everyone has the same comments, so be it. I was diagnosed with CRPS, which probably won’t kill me, and if we can knock it into remission, I won’t want to do it. Other than that, my van kinda blew up so the house fund went to buying a Toyota Sienna. Yay!

    • April 22, 2013 at 4:30 pm

What is CRPS? It sounds like something serious. Are you going to be alright? Sorry about the van. I told myself I’d write more when I retired and I haven’t done very much. I was pretty much traumatized by my lack of talent in the one writing class I took.

Hey everyone. New lost girl tonight, right?

    • April 22, 2013 at 1:05 pm

Hi Suzanne. Are you still kicking the new book’s butt? Yes, a new Lost Girl tonight, but sadly it is the season finally. I wonder if they will mention Anna Silk’s pregnancy or write it into the series?

Mud, are you offering to help me with my street team, lol — I hear you on the no interviews.
I just turned book 3 in. I get edits on book 2 next week. I’m in AZ right now at my moms. I’m speaking at my first university class on Thursday.

Hey everyone. did i tell you i woke up about a month ago with dizzyness and queezy stomach? I thought it was carbon monoxide poisoning but it lasted for days. went to doctors – turnd out i have vertigo. its supposed to be “benign and temporary.” its better but still dealing with it. ive been off work for a wk or so. im “flex” right now. its wsrm here now. i got a new show to reccomend: Orphan Black on BBCAmerica saturday 9pm. the show hooks you in the first few minutes. surprised at nudity, sex, and violence. Is bbc now hbo?(grin) Unfortunately, you’ve missed first 2 shows and you need to see this show in order. Another bbc show you can catch up on dvd: Misfits. about a group of juvenile delinquents who are blessed with xmen like superpowers. instead of becoming superheroes they just keep screwing up but on bigger scsle. smart and funny. one more lost girl show. sad. good movie: Wreck It Ralph! Really good! Be good! —Tony.

      • April 9, 2013 at 5:43 pm

Hi Tony. Did you get any of my emails? I suffer with vertigo just during our horrible pollen season, then it gets better. Nice to hear from you. I will really miss Lost Girl. It’s one of the few series I really don’t miss. I wonder how Anna Silk’s pregnancy will affect the story next year if they are renewed.

      • April 10, 2013 at 1:23 pm

Hi marsha! I got an email a few days ago. i need to put everyone’s contact info into my phone so i can text/email on my lunchbreaks. i only have a hundred minutes of talk a month on my plan so i tend to text more now. ive been wondering about anna silks pregnancy as well. I think u would really like orphan black. im interested in this new syfy show – Defiance. theyve spent a lot of money on it. they created an online game version of it as well. pretty ambitious.

I’m probably having a good day. About 37 rejections (No, I’m not counting). One nibble, but rejected. I’m working on Faith’s street team (Hint Suzanne), and getting ready for spring. Lot’s of seedlings under lights. No job interviews. Kinda feel down in the mid life crisis way. As in, I don’t have much to show for my life.

    • March 28, 2013 at 1:47 pm

I have about 8 years on you and I know what you mean. Just last week I was thinking the same thing. I don’t have that many years left, gloomy but true.I really haven’t accomplished much of anything. Cest la vie.

    • March 28, 2013 at 1:51 pm

By the way Mud. You’ve done so very much more than I ever will. I think you should look at what you have done.

Happy birthday Mud! I hope you have a good one.

  9. March 24, 2013 at 4:46 pm

Its twice as good as the last book. im still not loving that rachel will apparently forgive trent and al literally for anything but at least she’s addressing it with thought and dialogue. new books by PBriggs, FaithHunter, CVaughan coming out soon. i hope everyone is well. still workg alit. which is good. for now. bills bills bills. its snowing here today!? Sheesh.

Hello everyone, at least those who still look in once in awhile. Mud that sounds very exciting. It’s so cool that you are close to Faith and work with her like that. Suzzane, I hope the book stops kicking your butt. Tony, have you got WhatsApp on your new phone? I talk to Jenn that way all the time.

  14. February 20, 2013 at 11:39 am

I set it up like Darynda Jones. If you want info, email me and I can help you set yours up. Not hard, and we’ve been moving both authors up the lists.
At least I won’t have to make things for yours.

Hi guys. still getting used to smart phone(no home internet/pc anymore). Likinh my phone. texting more now. does anyone have a problem w/me texting? It’s just very easy for me now. MUD – how cool on bk news! I dont know what a “street team” is. i’m invisioning a group of book-weilding street toughs forcing people in enclosed places(elevators/commuter trains) to listen to a dramatic reading. “sit down, buddy, i’m going to drop some knowledge on your ass.” Suzanne – when does 2nd bk come out? Hey all. Got a nibble from an agent for George. Not much of one, just 30 pages, but better than a stick in the eye. Helping put together Faith’s street team. Haven’t listened to EA yet, too busy with other things. For an out of work bum, my days are full! Mainly with Doc appts. With luck, PT will solve my tingling prickling painful leg and foot since I can’t compete anymore.

Didn’t make it to Kim’s signing because of my brother’s bday dinner. I think Kylie went. I wanted to see her, but it was so hard to cram everything into one weekend. Also, I was exhausted from teaching all day, then a three hour event the day before. I’ll get the book eventually, though I’m not a Trent fan.

    • February 1, 2013 at 3:30 pm

I hate that Trent tried to kill Rachel several times, but suddenly all is forgiven and he is acceptable now. Men who abuse women don’t change that quickly if at all. How are ya’ll doing? I’m in the middle of wall prep for painting my bedroom. I haven’t touched the bedroom in 5 years and suddenly got a wild hair and decided to do something about it.

      • February 2, 2013 at 12:45 pm

With my job, i don’t have set hours. I’m in a “flex” position, waiting to be called in. It’s fine for now, but it would be nice to have a set schedule in the future. On KH and Trent/Rachel – it’s not just that he tried to hurt/kill Rachel on several occasions, he HAS killed many, many others. Most of them(men, women, children) completely innocent(Pale Demon). His actions destroyed cities and lives from St. Louis to San Francisco(not to mention getting Ivy tortured for 3 days). He tortured and murdered the werewolf Brett for no reason as it turned out. He murdered a scientist in front of Rachel in the first book( he was working for Trent in exchange for medicine for his daughter). If Rachel is “okay” with all of this now, who is she? I thought the one defining characteristic of her was a strong moral code, knowing right from wrong and not crossing that line.(shrug)

  21. January 28, 2013 at 11:10 am

watched the 4th episode of LOST GIRL – it’s good. the episodes are getting better and better. Bo goes undercover as a couples therapist. More Bo and Lauren stuff. an interesting case. Dyson and Tamsin as partners are fun. the truth bombs are coming every week now. Kenzie and Hale stuff;kenzie’s rash/norn problem is getting a lot worse, coming to a head. by the way, if you want to get a week ahead on LG or watch past shows, the person on YouTube that you want to look for is called ‘Top TvUploader.’ Very good quality;entire episodes. Apparently, he/she knows someone associated with the show, otherwise YouTube would be taking the video down. Haven’t got the new KH book yet. The customer reviews are very good. Let’s face it, Trent/Rachel is popular with the fans. I don’t think i’m going to read the latest EDGE book afterall. I’m just not really in the mood for another epic supernatural romance. i want to have fun, go on an adventure. doesn’t anybody write those anymore?

    • January 28, 2013 at 11:37 am

Tony have you tried the Molly Harper books? They are fun to me. Nothing heavy at all.

  22. January 25, 2013 at 12:35 pm

Off to AZ as soon as Missy gets out of school. Tomorrow I’m teaching at a conference from 8-3 then doing a YA event from 4-7. On sun I’m meeting old friends for coffee and having a birthday party for my big brother, then we have to drive back. I get the feeling there’s going to be no time to go to Kim’s signing, though I can’t really afford a $30 book anyway right now.

    • January 26, 2013 at 11:02 am

I hope it’s a good time all around. Is your family doing well? I know what you mean about $30 books. I’d like to say “hi” to Dawn(Kim) and Tim, but if i officially go through a signing line I want to have a new book.

    • January 26, 2013 at 11:58 am

Have fun Suzanne. I read the reviews of Kim’s new book on B&N and most people love it as usual. It is a Rachel/Trent book so not for me. One of the reviews let slip a charachter death, so don’t read them if you plan to read the book.

Marsha, that’s impossible. No one would be that cruel. Well, fellow students and honest friends, but not the instructor. If this is a paid class, find out who’s in charge and report them. Besides, I’ve read what you’ve written, it is good.

Oh no. Not in so many words. She has just changed almost every word I’ve submitted. I will tough it out even though I don’t agree with every change she has made. I just want to be able to finish one project, just one. You have already completed two and I admire you for that. After 27 years of working for the government, I imagine I have become very dry in my writing style.

  25. January 23, 2013 at 10:25 am

I got a new “smart” cell phone(with unlimited text/data) and a new gmail account(going to cancel my home internet w/aol soon)so you should get an email/text from me with new contact info.

I’m liking CONTINUUM. I always feel scifi writers overuse time travel nowadays, but this show looks like it has some depth to the characters and storyline. They aren’t overusing time travel…yet, anyway. I hope the story is going to be more than her chasing the same bad guys for ever. Her partner is kinda weak, Carlos. He’s no chris holden(dyson);not alot of depth, talent. Handsome. He played Beckett’s boyfriend(Castle) for awhile. like the the young and older actors who play ALex(computer mogul/genius). There seems to be a lot going on there in past and future. Love the actress who is playing the lead. I wish she had a female buddy, alli(maybe that would be too LostGirl?). Like the leader of the terrorists(wonder where he went?). Some of the bad guys are interesting, some not so much. There is so much good genre on tv right now, more than ever. Certainly more than what we are seeing on the bookshelves. I think it’s because tv is courting a wider audience while publishers are just focusing on “what’s worked before.” The audience seems more segmented, narrow. Genre is being written for girls or women(romance) or men(hard scifi). You don’t see men/women reading the same thing which is a shame. Movie:i wonder if that Hansel and Greta:Witch Hunters is good? Looks interesting, fun. Still haven’t seen new Hobbitt film. cold here. COOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLDDDDDD!

    • January 23, 2013 at 9:04 pm

and that is why I wrote a girl cyberpunk. Tony, you might even like it. Maybe. There are still feelings. And kissing.

  26. January 21, 2013 at 1:12 pm

I just watched the 3rd episode of season 3 of LOST GIRL on YouTube. It’s definitely the best episode of the 3 i’ve seen. Fun. Truth bombs between Bo and Kenzie, and then Kenzie and Lauren, and even Vex learns a bit about himself. Kenzie gets to be a superhero, of sorts. Remember the body-switching episode from last year? We get a sequel…of sorts.

    • January 22, 2013 at 3:08 pm

Vex is entertaining but I want him to do more bad things. I am liking continuium. Harper Voyager’s FB page has a “which hollows character are you” quiz. Which is fun. I’m Ceri, aparently. If I make it to Kim’s signing on Sun, then I’ll buy the book, if not I’ll wait. $ are tight and I always buy books when I do bookstore events, and it’s a different bookstore than the one kim’s signing at. It would be easier if it were the same one, lol

      • January 23, 2013 at 10:09 am

from what i can tell from cast interviews(from Lost Girl) they really love the actor who plays Vex. If they make him a complicated/conflicted bad guy, that would be somewhat better than trying to rehabilitate the character into a silly good guy who says funny, rude things. It looks like after the 3rd episode he is moving out of the clubhouse. Good. A little Vex goes a long way. Your a Ceri! I can totally see that! Remember when i was going to have guest writers for that Online With Ivy thing i wrote? I was going to have you write as Ceri!(laugh) I know what you mean about $ and book signings and such. If i go to Cincy book signing i’m going to have to buy a book;i can’t go through line w/o a new book. I mean, i guess i could, but i would feel funny doing so.

  27. January 19, 2013 at 11:20 am

LOST GIRL – i did watch the first episode again. Not sure my opinion changes, but it’s still fun to watch, even the less-than-great episodes. Interesting:YouTube has the entire 2nd episode of the season up. I can’t believe they haven’t taken down(maybe they have today). It’s definitely a better episode. Yes, Vex is still hanging around(I like the character – he’s entertaining – but really, he’s a bad guy. A guy you love to hate. Hopefully he moves out of the clubhouse sooner rather than later). Bo is still trying out monogamy(at least, for now). And Dyson has a new interesting partner. Promising. CONTINUUM – the other new Canadian import that made it’s debut on Syfy. It’s about a time-travelling cop from the future, a relatively well-off future where corporations run the governments and personal freedoms have been sacrificed. She(crime fighter/main character) has jumped back into our timeline to capture terrorists(freedom fighters?). It’s pretty good so far. The American version of BEING HUMAN also debuted the same night. At first, i was turned off by the show in it’s first season as it seemed unwilling to carve out it’s own unique path. But that changed last year in it’s second season. It’s going in a lot of interesting directions. They are taking big chances. It’s more violent, creepy, sexy than the original. Faster pace. New Kevin Hearne book – HUNTED(i think it was called). It’s about a 2,000-yr-old Druid with magical powers. It’s a relatively new series. Unique. First person POV from a male. But the last two books have added so many new characters(literally, a cast of thousands, seemingly) and new mythos that I’ve gotten completely frustrated with the series. I’m not RainMan, i can’t keep all these characters/storylines straight. There are chapters where, i’m not exaggerating, there are maybe a dozen new characters discussed along with a dozen old characters. I quit reading after about 70 pages or so. I’ve got the new EDGE book by Ilona and Andrew here. That series keeps going and going, but i’m not sure how i like how new characters are introduced to focus on every book. New KH book, EVER AFTER – this is going to be the first KH book that i’m not buying but will get from the library. I know i’m not going to be thrilled with this latest Rachel/Trent adventure. Doesn’t resonate at all. Had to buy new dryer(laugh, how’s that for a transition?). Got a new phone that i have to activate(i’ve been putting it off for some reason, maybe because i have to learn how to use new technology, my least favorite thing).

    • January 19, 2013 at 4:37 pm

Hi Tony. I will not be reading the latest KH book. Maybe I’ll read the last one that deals more with Ivy, but probably not. I can’t stand the rachel/Trent pairing. Too many nights at a women’s shelter for extra credit in my psych class in college. Why in hell women take men back after they beat the hell out of them I’ll never understand. I liked the last Edge book, but it was my least favorite. The authors admitted they don’t really like the series very much and that this is the last book. at least for now. Get yourself an e-reader. Chep books are a good way to get into new and up-coming writers. Hi to anyone else out there.

  28. January 17, 2013 at 12:03 pm

HeyHey! Finally watched first episode of season 3 of LOST GIRL. My first impression was “wow, that was maybe the worst episode of the series.” I just got done reading AfterEllen.com’s episode recap(“Lock me up and throw away the key”) and i’m thinking i maybe need to rewatch the episode with a more open mind. They LOVE the episode! Doccubus fans are fun. The show seemed…slapdash, overly riddiculous to me. Not as well done/written as past shows. I don’t know who has seen episode and who hasn’t so i’ll be circumspect about the plot. The plots are always kinda silly, that’s not their strong point – i don’t expect “Homeland” or “Game of Thrones” here, but the showrunners always do a great job of balancing interpersonal dynamics with episode storylines and the dialogue is always so brilliantly funny, but in this episode…i thought it was lacking(shrug). Still! Great to have the gang all back together. Another criticism: i know from cast interviews that they LOVE VEX and the actor who portrays him. I like the character as well. But he IS evil and i hope they honor that. remember the first season when we not only saw him murder the vampire but we also learned that he made Bo’s mother’s midwife drown her three sons as punishment for marrying a human. He’s funny and outrageous, so i hope they don’t totally forget and rehabilitate him and make him “one of the gang.” I wasn’t surprised by the new Ash, i saw that coming a mile away. i hope they give the new Ash a better headquarters(sheesh!). Still wondering where they are going with Kenzie’s rash she picked up at the Norn’s place. And the “bad” side of Bo. And whatever happened to her mother?! She didn’t show up in season 2 at all! Looking forward to episode 2 – the Canadian Doccubus fans are over the moon(they get the episodes a week earlier than us). If you aren’t reading AfterEllen’s LOST GIRL recaps, you should. They are funny!

    • January 17, 2013 at 1:18 pm

Oh, by the way – before the Canadian premiere, they had an hour-long preshow. You can find it on YouTube in 3 parts. Lost Girl season 3 preshow.

    • January 17, 2013 at 6:03 pm

Tony I didn’t care that much for this episode either. I didn’t care too much for the whole “women in chains” thing they had going. The best part for me was watching Bo and Kenzie interact. This episode didn’t have enough of that. I hope they don’t run the evil Bo thing through the whole season, I don’t care for that story line. Doccubus? Funny.

      • January 18, 2013 at 11:33 am

I’ve seen, and read, interviews that indicate that characters “drifting apart” and doing their “own thing” is going to be a constant theme this year, which bums me out. Bo with Kenzie is magic for me and i’m a little bummed to hear it might be tampered with a bit this year. Still, i guess we knew that Bo would have to confront this “dark side” of herself eventually. I just hope it doesn’t overwhelm the storyline(s). I’m glad the show is going to invest in Bo’s new found monogamy. I would call it brave, all things considered, but really, should it be such a big deal in 2013(trying to be circumspect again). However, you know she’s going to screw it up(laugh). It’s going to be an interesting year.

  29. January 14, 2013 at 2:25 pm

Hey everyone. How are you all doing? Mud, I have given another on line writing class a shot and I’m having fun with this one. Don’t give up! Suzanne, our weather is stinky so I’ve been trolling the jewelry supply sights. I found some cute steampunky charms. Do you ever wear charm bracelets? Tony, Lost Girl Tonigh! So happy!

    • January 14, 2013 at 10:01 pm

I can’t wait for Lost Girl tonight!

Marsha I’m more of an earring and necklace girl. That pair of earrings you made with the multiple gears – I wear to every signing. I love them.

  30. January 8, 2013 at 11:31 am

Notre Dame vs Alabama: My ass is sore! what an ass-whooping. they should have had a “mercy rule” in that game, you know, like they do in little league baseball when the game gets out of hand. my dad was really bummed, went to bed at halftime(laugh). i emailed Alyssa as well. she’s not writing on her blog either(shrug). maybe she started a new one, maybe something is wrong. i don’t know. Reading Jom Butcher’s latest right now. It’s pretty good, but i think i’m getting burned out on UF regardless of the author now. I need something new. it looks like my employment with Kohl’s is going to continue, at least on a part-time basis for now which i think is good. Electronic update: i’ve been considering ideas about laptops,tv,internet, phones, tablets because these days they are all connected, right? I think i’m going to trade in my little “dumb” phone for a “smart” phone – Walmart has some very good deals on pre-paid, no contract phones. I think that makes more sense than a tablet for me right now(i would like to replace my desk top computer with a laptop though). Be good!

    • January 8, 2013 at 12:22 pm

Hey Tony. I think Nick Saban could use a personality infusion, but you can’t fault him on strategy and game plans. I got a Nook HD+ for Christmas and I’m in love with it. It has to be in a wi-fi area to get internet, but the books and game apps work anywhere. I love the thing. I have had a smart phone for two years in March, and I’m going to end my Verizon contract and get a phone through the Walmart company as well. My sister has it and she gets the same service as me for only $45.00 instead of my $80.00. I almost never use all my services and minutes. Good news about the job continuing. Are you doing any writing? I’m finding myself drawn to ghost stories right now, I always did love a good ghost story.

    • January 14, 2013 at 10:03 pm

UF is really struggling right now. Lots of series being cancled. Other series are doing whatever they can to hang on (which could explain some things).

  31. January 8, 2013 at 8:04 am

Lesson number one to Notre Dame, don’t insult your opponent’s heritage unless you have the guns to get through their offensive line. Our QB was on fire last night!

  32. January 7, 2013 at 9:36 am

I just have one important thing to say today…RRRRROOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL TIDE! I don’t normally get too involved in this, but seriously, the “cousins” crack was just a bit too insulting. I hope our boys kick some ass!

    • January 7, 2013 at 10:14 am

“Cousins?” I missed that, somebody insulted alabama? I had an arab buddy who used to call me cousin(laugh). at first, it was because i had so many cousins, but then it became a kind of a friendly take on “brother” or “sister” that you sometimes hear. I miss him and his family(moved to Dubai a while ago). My dad is a huge Notre Dame fan so i hope the game is at least competitive(Alabama is favored by 10 points last i heard) for him. Who knows when, or if, ND will ever be in a championship game again in his lifetime. Most ND fans realize that Alabama is probably the better team and don’t want to be embarrassed on national tv(laugh). I bet outside of the SuperBowl, this is going to be the most watched sporting event in recent tv history. ps my Bengals have already made their usual early exit from the NFL playoffs. Where is Alyssa to make fun of american football?(laugh)

      • January 7, 2013 at 10:46 am

To most lifelong Southerners “cousins” is a reference to inbreeding, you know, like Jerry Lee Lewis was stupid enough to marry his first cousin. I know that this game has been huge down here. I think that this is the first time in 4-5 years that a non SEC team has been in the game. If we loose, Nick Saban won’t be able to come home for a week or two 🙂 Alyssa has abandoned all of us. She doesn’t even answer private emails, hope it wasn’t anything I did.

  33. January 5, 2013 at 4:51 pm

I had a lot of energy as a kid, lol.

    Tony, congrats, that’s epic.

    Hi Marsha!

I have been told that I should watch Downtown Abby, but one way I accomplish so much is that I watch very little TV. Very excited about Lost Girl. What’s the new Canadian import about?

I am no longer sure if I’ll make it to see Kim when I’m in Phx. I’m teaching *all day* the day before, then doing a giant teen pizza party with authors thing after. I have a feeling I might be exhausted. Also, my mom likes to plan social activities when I’m in the area. I had wanted to go so I could meet up with Miss Kylie.

    Hugs

  34. January 4, 2013 at 10:36 am

Snow, baby, snow. Some of my plans for the Holidays were delayed because of the big snow storm that here. We got, i don’t know, 10 inches or so, something like that. We didn’t have any real snow last year, so it was a wakeup call – “you live in the midwest, dude, it snows!” Still, the holidays went well, all in all. Saw a lot of family and friends. I didn’t miss work or was even late, even though i’m 29 miles – mostly all highway, thankfully – from the warehouse facility. About that: my full-time seasonal time is now over. 3 months of work. Met a lot of people, made some $, lost some weight in the process(17 pounds and counting). It’s not official but it looks like they want me to stay on part-time to start(with benefits) until they have more hours to offer. We’ll see. I can’t remember what i’ve read that i’ve talked about. KH anthology was ‘so-so” and the Jocelynn Drake new series was unreadable after the first 70 pages. I read a John Grisham – The Racketeer – for the first time in a decade or so. It was ok. A short story that is stttrrreeeetttcchhhhed to 340 pages. A lot of “blahblahblah” if you know what i mean. I got the second manga edition of Gail Carriger’s Soulless series. The artwork is sooooo beautiful. So much more evocative then the american graphic novel adaptations I’m seeing out there. I still would pick that series as my number one series to be adapted to the television. It’s not the best, but it could really work on tv in my opinion. SHe has a new YA series coming out in February. I have the new Kevin Hearne and the new Ilona Andrews book on hold at the library. I have the new Jim Butcher book – COLD DAYS – here, but i haven’t started yet. KH’s book is coming out this month, of course. I’m bummed to hear that there isn’t much Ivy in this one. It’s like hearing that Kenzie isn’t going to be seen much in this season’s LOST GIRL. And that Bo has a thing for Vex and is ok with hime killing a lot of innocent men, women, and children to keep her out of jail. The series has lost it’s moral compass(the Hollows, i mean). But female romance readers don’t care. In that world, finding love is more important than human life. Speaking of LG! New season starts MONDAY JANUARY 14th at 10PM here in the states(starts Jan 6th in Canada). On that same night: new season of the american version of BEING HUMAN, and another Canadian import, CONTINUUM, which i’m looking forward to checking out. I’ve got $100 of Amazon gift cards sitting here on my desk. I think i’m getting a kindle fire, but i haven’t pulled the trigger yet. MARSHA: i shared my brownees with my best friend’s family and they loved them too. If KH goes to Atlanta are you going to visit her? If i’m not working, i think i might go down to Cincinnati to see her. I just hate to pay full price for a hardcover these days. SUZANNE – i admire you so much for getting so much done with all that you have on your plate. You have energy to spare, were you a hyper kid when you were little?(grin) MUD—what’s up with you? Had any brushes with famous people lately, in person or online? Does anybody watch DOWNTON ABBEY? I haven’t seen yet. I requested the first season on DVD at the library. What about THE HOUR? That’s another BBC production that has gotten some attention. It is very very cold here. I need to run some errands. Be good. 🙂

    • January 4, 2013 at 12:49 pm

Hi Tony, and Mud and Suzanne! Happy New Year. Congrats on the weight loss Tony. I consider myself lucky to have only gained two pounds during the Holidays. Trying to get back on track now. I don’t think I will go see Kim if she is in Atlanta; I would feel hypocritical since I no longer follow the books or her blog. If you get the Kindle I’ll see if there is a way for me to share some of my stories from the Nook I have. I have some books about a male ghost hunter and his team in Nashville you might like. You can tell they are early in his writing career, but not a bad read and cheap! I’m so excited about Lost Girl coming back on, Merlin too. I hope that they will not play Bo as evil too long. Have a good weekend all.

  35. December 30, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Happy New Year everyone. I was in AZ for the holidays. Missy got a giant pillow pet. It’s like a large dog bed with a head and feet. I got a teapot.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Tony, I like to go to Waffle House when I’m in AZ. We also have no Sonic’s in LA, so I have to go get my cherry limeade fix. Oh, I’m almost done with the book that takes place in Ohio. Just have to finish these edits and it’s off to the agent.

Mud, the out-of-genre book is a contemporary YA non-romance about a girl in Amish country. It was difficult to write. But I wanted to see if I could do it.

  36. December 25, 2012 at 2:13 pm

    MerryMerry Christmas!!!

My buddy, Todd, from California, came into town and stayed with me one night(as usual). I hosted poker night at my house for some of my male friends. Funny: they don’t have Waffle House in California so as per tradition, me and Todd went to WaffleHouse for Christmas Eve breakfast(laugh). I’m going to meet his new girlfriend wednesday night when some of us get together at another friend’s house.(i have to work wednesday). My sister hosted Chrismas Eve family get-together at her house. 40+ people came. Always fun to see everyone. As usual, I wrapped all her presents for her 3 kids at my house. I wrapped my dad’s presents for them as well. AND—i wrapped my own. Lotsa wrappin’. I went back over to my sister’s house Christmas morning for presents and breakfast. Then, i visited my aunt and cousins on the way home. AND—I’m expected back over my sister’s house for round #3 – Christmas Dinner. Thursday I’ll be meeting family at local resuarant to celebrate my sister and her daughter’s bday(both born on the 26th!). We go to an old local favorite: Mama DiSalvos. Busybusybusy. I hope everyone is well and Santa brought them what they wanted. Be good.

    Freaky Beak stole the tree.

If any of my buddies are still out there, have a wonderful Holiday Season! Don’t look under the tree and see what you don’t have, but look around you and see who you do have. Love!

      Oh CONGRATULATIONS!
I really admire you. I’ve given up. My stuff is crap. At least I recognize it. Dog training and gardens are where it’s at!

      • December 18, 2012 at 1:46 pm

For nheaven’s sake Mud, I can’t even finish a story. You’ve written two!

        December 19, 2012 at 12:35 pm

Mud, Jodi Meadows wrote SEVENTEEN manuscripts before she sold. I wrote TEN. Just keep writing. It takes about a million words before you’re any good, so they say (I believe it).

    • December 18, 2012 at 1:45 pm

Awesome Suzanne! You are doing fantastic.

    • December 19, 2012 at 6:39 pm

      Congratulations!!! WooHoo! 😆

  41. December 14, 2012 at 12:07 pm

HelloHello everyone. I think i’m done with my stretch of 12-hour work days. Whew!(wipes brow) Hugs to Suzanne, M, Marsha, and everyone. I got Marsha’s world famous brownies in the mail yesterday! WooHoo! I’ve lost 16 pounds in the last 2 months, but i’m going to have to call a “diet truce” for the next few days so I’z can scarf up some brownies. Mmm Mmm! MUD—sorry for all the run of crappy luck and circumstance. I know exactly how you feel. On book/writing: heck, i’d just like to find some time to write and here you finished a book! I say that’s pretty great. I don’t know whether i shojd go to KH’s signing or not. It’s no secret that the last few book’s focus on the Rachel/Trent dynamic does not resonate with me at all. As a man, a man who reads genre fiction, it’s a long walk on the beach to get sand kicked in my face. Still, there’s the rumnored refocus on Ivy and the vampires in the lasst 2 books that really keeps my interest up. The series/author have meant a lot to me these last few years and i’m going to see it thru to the end. I’ve been rewatching LOST GIRL lately. The dialogue is so great, so witty. Whoever writes Kenzie’s stuff is a genious. be good!

    • December 14, 2012 at 4:12 pm

Hi Tony! I’m glad you are willing to put the diet on hold for a few days to eat the brownies. They can be frozen if you decide not to share them with some one else.

  42. December 10, 2012 at 12:03 pm

    Hugs everyone. 🙂

    • December 10, 2012 at 12:13 pm

Hugs to you too. I’m looking forward to the end of this shitty year. Lost my fosterson, my boydog, my job, and my leg is worse. Hoping it’s Lyme. That’s pretty much what took Tru’s life, and he never had a positive until they did a Western Blot.

Finished another crappy book that no one will read. Other than that, Happy New Year.

      • December 10, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Hi Mud. I’m sorry you’re having a bad time this year, and I hope the new one will be better. I still tear up when I think of my losing my little Pom after 14 years so I know how you feel. Why do you think your book is crappy? You never have given yourself any credit for what you do.

    • December 10, 2012 at 12:32 pm

Hi Tony. I always wondered how you read so manby books! I hope that you are able to keep the overtime as long as you want to. I don’t plan on anymore KH signings since I’m weened off of the Hollows now. I have been super busy lately and I know I’m really late on those birthday brownies, but I plan on making them for you and Ryan tomorrow so I can get them to you guys in no more that three days. I want them to be as fresh as possible. I can hardly wait for the new Lost Girl episodes…TV sucks right now.

    • December 10, 2012 at 12:33 pm

Hugs to you too Suzanne. How are things going out in “sunny” California?

  43. December 1, 2012 at 12:43 pm

I see KH added Cincinnati to her tour schedule. Jo Beth is a store that used to be one of my accounts back in the day when i worked for a books/magazine distributor so I’m familiar with it. It doesn’t have the room for a comfortable gathering, unlike Books&Company here in Dayton. But since B&Co closed one of it’s two Dayton stores i don’t think there is enough $/sales to warrant her coming to Dayton again.

I’m working 12-hour shifts right now during “peak” season for Kohls right now. I work at their warehouse, not a store. Busy, busy, busy, filling online orders. One thing that is sweet: this week i got employee discount of 35% off kohl’s purchases on top of 25% kohl’s charge card savings! 60% off on top of sale prices!(laugh) I took my sister shopping yesterday and today i went back to get my best friend’s girls a few things. I think i’m done shopping for everyone.

I finished the new Faith Hunter’s book and i read KH’s new short story anthology. I thought the FH book was her best since the 2nd book. Much more focused. Many of my recent complaints were addressed in this one. (Too many Confusing side stories, Jane acting foolishly, not being good at her job, plot and personal motivation not making enough sense). There was one big plot that drove the entire story/book in this one. Yeah! and all the ancillary plots served it or were attached to it in ways that made sense and could be easily followed. There are things that happened in the last 2 books that i still can’t remember, even when referenced again and again(can’t remember that angel in last book for the life of me;too much going on in that one, almost as if there was a tv season long worth of ideas squeezed into one book). This one had a plot that powered through from beginning to end. In previous books Jane hasn’t been as good at her job as she could be or had been earlier in the series. I also began questioning her motivation, mostly because she wasn’t. In this book, both points are addressed. Jane’s internal dialogue shows us she is in fact thinking about why she is doing what she is doing and why she is working for the vampires. You may not agree with her but at least she is addressing her ambivalence and choices. Also, she hires her own “scooby gang”, two brothers, which helps her to better address her shortcomings and do her job better. Smart solution. There is alot of word repetition, “yeah me” is used many times and beast uses smashed, compunded phrases a lot (example:”fastfastfast”). But these are minor quibbles. Beast’s attraction to Bruiser and Leo makes no sense to me. Bruiser is “food” to another predator and we know Beast does not respect that. Leo is a dead and magical being that seeks to dominate and eat Jane which again we know she(beast) hates. (shrug) If beast has the ability to be ambivalent and make nonsensical decisions when it comes to sex then it would better help me to understand. Still, a very satisfying book. Better than the last two(which were still pretty entertaining). I would give this one a A-/A.

KH’s new short story anthology was very heavy on past, previously released shorts about the Hollows. About two thirds of this book is devoted to these stories. I hadn’t read them all so i was glad they were in there, especially the ones about Ivy. I read 3 of the four new, original non-Hollow’s stories(i didn’t read the one about the spiders yet). There’s a short one about dryads that feels very slight to me. The creatures in question make a very short appearance. It’s really more of a morality fable that focuses on humans. There’s a story on vampires that has more bang for the buck. that one’s pretty good. The story about Grace feels overly familiar from other stories and movies. Children blessed/cursed with powers that they can’t properly control and an organization that seeks to help them or stop them. I would give the book a B+/A- for the Hollow’s stories and a B-/B for the non-Hollow’s stories.

I’ve got the new Jocelynn Drake book, as well as the new Jim Butcher book to read(when i can find the time! *grin).

New season of LOST GIRL set to air January 6th on Syfy(i think/hope). WooHoo! Also, Syfy is going to air another Canadian/Showcase show – CONTINUUM – as well in January. It’s kind of a time-cop thing apparently. Looks interesting.

  44. November 27, 2012 at 8:49 am

Hi Tony. It’s always great to talk to you. Good luck on the job front. I’m still adjusting to retirement and trying not to get too lazy, but I’m trying to do too many things and not really finishing any of them 🙂

  45. November 26, 2012 at 12:21 pm

I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving!

Did you all see Kim’s new tour schedule? She’s not hitting LA this year, but she is hitting Phoenix the weekend I’m in town for a big YA thing so if the timing works, I’ll try to go see her..

    • November 27, 2012 at 8:47 am

Hi Suzanne. I hope you get the chance to see Kim. Thanksgiving was nice, but I have to get back into eating healthier now. At least I have my coffee back!

  46. November 23, 2012 at 10:11 am

Happy Thanksgiving!!! After work, i drove south about 50 miles to my cousin’s house and enjoyed seeing so much of my family. I’m not working overtime this weekend so i’m hoping to catch up on some reading. Did a little online shopping too. Hope everyone is well!

    • November 23, 2012 at 10:24 am

Hi Tony! I hope the no overtime is your choice. Glad to hear from you. I’m finally comfortable enough with my diet issues to make those brownies. I’ll try to get them off to you next week. I’ve been trying to do so many things I don’t have much time for reading either. I read a bit before going to sleep each night, but it is taking me awhile to read the book I’m reading right now. Glad you had the Holiday with family.

      • November 25, 2012 at 10:58 am

I’ve lost a bit of weight(12 pounds or so) and people who haven’t seen me in awhile noticed at Thanksgiving. I’m just trying not to stuff my face as much(laugh). You don’t have time when your working. I get two half-hour breaks and i eat pretty lightly. I don’t snack as much either. My pop consumption is waaaay down. And i’m on my feet all day so i’m burning off calories. there are no gaurantees that they will keep me on after the holidays, but i hope they keep me in mind when they hire permanent workers. It’s nice to have $. Plus, i feel energized. It’s nice to have co-workers too, so often i’ve had jobs that were more solitary in nature.

  47. November 19, 2012 at 3:19 pm

I’m here. I’ve been super sick. Also, things just suck and I don’t want to be a downer. I finished my rewrites my agent wanted on my cyberpunk. It’s 90% new words. Yeah. Seriously. It’s also 130k. Yikes. I have to cut out about 40k. That’s not going to be fun.

    • November 23, 2012 at 10:09 am

I’m sorry, I hope things get better. I hope you and the family and your MissE enjoy Thanksgiving.

  48. November 14, 2012 at 2:48 pm

*Sigh* I feel like I have lost all of my friends. It’s so quiet in here.

    • November 16, 2012 at 4:07 pm

I know, but it’s not as sad to me, for some reason. Some times, there are moments that bring people together(KH giving us a page to organize, socialize, write). That was fun, but it’s hard to sustain that kind of energy, enthusiasm. We can always email/call each other individually. Sometimes Jenn drops me a line every now and again, for instance. Writing is a solitary endeavor. But it’s nice that i have some friends online that i can contact that understand, can give advice. Unfortunately, this job that i got right now is kicking my butt physically and timewise. I’m working overtime when i can get it as well. I think i’ve only read one book in 6 weeks!? I’m supposed to be beta reading something for MUD(sorry Mud!) and i haven’t gotten to it yet. My only concern: where are those people who have completely disappeared? Are they ok? Don’t they want to at least chat writing, books thru personal email? Still, i know i have good friends that i can contact, that i met here and thru KH’s drama, and that’s a very cool thing. 😎

Don’t worry. Story is nearly done and changed. I’m still trying to track down where a nerve is pinched so we can fix it. Oh and not getting interviews. I’m just too old.

  49. November 5, 2012 at 11:48 pm

TONY – (Belated) Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great one.

My family and I made it thru the storm. We were okay here on the east end though there was a lot of damage, mostly flooding as you’d expect since we’re surrounded by water, and we lost power for a few days. Some of the towns on the south shore weren’t so lucky. There was real devastation to the west, especially parts of NYC where many lives were lost, and in NJ. So we were lucky. We got power back Saturday night. Still have gas shortage and the National Guard is still out here.

MARSHA, thanks so much for your concern, and for the emails. We’re slowly getting back to normal.

    • November 6, 2012 at 7:46 am

Hi Ryan. It’s good to hear you’re getting back to as close to normal as possible. The destruction of Sandy is astounding to me and makes me glad I no longer live on the coast where most of them do their worst.

    • November 6, 2012 at 5:42 pm

Glad you escaped the destruction;that was close.

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all okay. I saw Tiffany this weekend at a book festival. Things are okay. My car died and hubby got me a stick shift, which I can’t drive. So, that’ll be interesting. Have a good day.

    Hugs

    • November 6, 2012 at 5:40 pm

Hi Suzanne! Car died? That stinks. I don’t know how to drive a stick either. Oh, i could learn, of course, but i bet i would be rough on the gears for awhile there.

  51. November 1, 2012 at 8:43 am

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TONY!!! I’ll send you the brownies later. I’m on a very stingy diet right now and I don’t trust myself to make them without licking the bowl!

    • November 1, 2012 at 5:24 pm

Thanks Marsha! I’m on a diet of sorts myself. I’ve lost a little weight. Cut back on snacking and soft drinks.

  52. October 29, 2012 at 8:50 am

I hope all my Yankee friends are going to be safe from this terrible storm coming your way. Ryan, I think you are really at risk so take special care. I’ve lived through hurricanes before in Charleston and they are not fun. Much worse after the storm with no power.

    • October 29, 2012 at 5:18 pm

we are supposed to get a combination of rain, snow, and high winds the next few days. I’m worried about the winds and the weight of snow/ice on my trees. Reading Faith Hunter’s latest…

      • October 30, 2012 at 8:18 am

I liked the book. I don’t know that it’s my favorite in the series, but Jane is always a good read.

    Hi Marsha!(waves back)

  54. October 23, 2012 at 10:15 am

Mud? You? A name dropper? No, I want to hear about your adventures!!

Job interview this morning. Fingers crossed

    • October 23, 2012 at 4:14 pm

Good Luck! We all need money so we can continue to do fun things(laugh), not to mention pay the bills. Hopefully my job will last awhile and i can get my dead trees trimmed/cut down, my driveway repaved, my air/heat replaced, and…a vacation would be nice!

  55. October 21, 2012 at 11:11 am

Hey Tony… I’m good, thanks. Hope all’s well with you. I think you’re right on the mark in your read on Ohio. Seems to be the consensus that it’s very tight and could decide the election. There are variables but it’s going to be very difficult for either candidate to win without getting Ohio. Whoever does win, we need to create jobs and get the economy going past the stagnation of the last number of years.

  56. October 21, 2012 at 9:44 am

Had fun at New York ComicCon. Hung with Faith and Kalayna, and talked to Kim and Guy. There was a ruckus that still makes me uncomfortable and I don’t exactly know what happened. Other than that, and the 100K people stomping on me, the interviews, the pictures and such of my Steampunk costume, it was a good time. I won’t be going back.

I wasn’t going to post anything, since it looks like I’m a name dropper, but because of this group, and Kim, I got to know Faith and more about writing. Now, I need to do it.

For heaven’s sake Mud. We aren’t jealous that you have famous friends, at least I’m not. What was the ruckus???? Tell us.

    • October 22, 2012 at 6:28 pm

Glad you had a great time! I wish i had been working more this year so i could have joined in on some of these cool trips/conventions you guys(Suzanne and you) have been going to. It’s a shame i couldn’t even go to Chicago to say “hi.” Hey, did you by any chance check out the “Lost Girl” people? I heard Kensia Solo(Kenzie) was there as well as the actress who plays “Lauren” and the actor who plays “Trick.” I haven’t started the Faith Hunter book yet. Watching first season of HOMELAND(Showtime) right now…interesting, intense. I’m working overtime hours in addition to my regular 40 hour/week right now so i haven’t read anything in weeks. Nothing. ANyhoo, be good… 🙂

      • October 22, 2012 at 6:30 pm

They were there, my friend went, I got a poster. It was fun, except too many people.

      • October 22, 2012 at 6:53 pm

Hi Tony! *wave* I jut started the New Jane Yellowrock book and I’m almosty halfway through it. It’s good, but I really want to see mJane get a little luck in the romance department…poor girl is about dry as me.

TONY – Ohio may be the most critical battleground state in determining the outcome of the election. How does it look to you? Any sense of which way it’s leaning?

    • October 19, 2012 at 4:26 pm

Hi Tony! I saw that about Ohio being key. They also say the woman votes are going to be key as well. Down here they have to ask their husbands or their preachers who they believe in. It’s not exactly a free thinking kind of place. I honestly can’t tell who I think will win…too close to call right now.

      • October 21, 2012 at 9:20 am

I think women voters(as well as the younger voters) went democrat last time.(here in Ohio anyway) There isn’t an anti-Bush feeling to rally around this time and the republicans still can’t seem to get their act together and nominate an attractive ticket that women or the young can get behind. So, i don’t know. It may be closer this time, i can’t get a reading on which way women will vote this time.

    • October 21, 2012 at 9:15 am

Hi Ryan, it’s been awhile. Yes, Ohio has been a “key” state in the last 3 federal elections. We are swamped with political tv/radio ads and personal appearances. There are some states, from what i understand, that will not get a visit from any of the candidates and where hardly any $ is spent to reach them/influence them. Not here. There isn’t a week that goes by that we don’t see the candidates in our state. Usually, multiple times. There are political tv ads EVERY commercial break. There is not nearly the antipation for change that there was in 2008. There is definitely political fatigue which historically means democrats won’t show up in full force to vote, but i sense a fatigue and lack of excitement for republicans and independents(who tend to vote more often for republican candidates) for their candidate as well(shrug). Here in Ohio we can vote early by mail if we want(my ballot has been sitting on my table for over a week now). Racism/intolerance hasn’t been talked about much, but i have to wonder if anti-mormon feelings will play a part. I don’t know. It’s very close. I’m thinking Ohio will go Obama by a whisker, but i wouldn’t bet on it.

Hope things are going well with you! Be good.

  58. October 16, 2012 at 10:52 am

Missy and I watched Snow White and the Huntsman last night. She thought the ending was unsatisfactory, lol.

Things are good. I have a story in the Two and Twenty Dark Tales anthology that releases today (Creepy/dark versions of Mother Goose Rhymes).

I want to see the apartment 666 show. I like Elementary (new version of Sherlock Holmes).

    • October 16, 2012 at 4:43 pm

Cool news on the anthology! 😉

  59. October 14, 2012 at 10:16 am

Hey kids…long time no see.(grin) I trust everyone is busy and maybe, hopefully, happy. New work takes getting used to. Drive to work is about 30 miles…not too bad. 10 hours a day for now. It’s going to expand to 12 hours a day by Thanksgiving. Nice to have $. One thing is for sure – i’m going to end up losing some weight doing this job!(laugh) It’s pretty physical, and i, of course, have no time to feed my face all day. I’ve cut way back on my caffeine/pop intake, which is good. I had to deal with caffeine withdrawal and the headaches, but it’s worth it. I hope they keep me on after the Holidays. We’ll see. My Cincinnati Reds were blown out of the water in the baseball playoffs. Bummer. I finally watched SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. I liked it! I thought it was very entertaining. My tv consumption has been severly curtailed(laugh). I saw ARROW(CW). It was OK, i don’t think i’ll keep up with it. I’ve lost track of LAST RESORT and REVOLUTION and ONCE UPON A TIME and REVENGE. Not enough hours in the day. I’ve heard APARTMENT 666 is really good but i haven’t seen. I haven’t seen a new show that has grabbed me yet. I miss LOST GIRL. I want to see CLOUD ATLAS. I went to see my neice cheerlead last night(laugh). She looked like she was having fun. My sister and her husband, and my cousin and her husband, are going to Italy this weekend! ROME,FLORENCE,VENICE! Let’s all be extremely envious for a moment…tick, tick, tick…ok, that’s enough. MUD—i saw your Amazon review of Faith Hunter’s new book. I’m going to be reading it soon. SUZANNE—i got GOD SAVE THE QUEEN from the library but haven’t started it yet. How’s everything going otherwise? MARSHA—i’ve emailed ALYSSA as well and no response. i hope she’s alright. I’ve exchanged a few emails with JENN. She sent me a picture of her new puppy(laugh). I also asked her about another Canadian show – CONTINUUM(spelling?) – that i’ve heard about. I hear some of THE LOST GIRL people are at ComicCon in New York. That would have been cool to go to and see them as well as KH and other writers we like. I’ve never been to a ComicCon or large writer convention. Maybe this year, maybe…Anyhoo, be good!

Hi Tony. I just got back from central California. My brother finally talked me into going out there. One of his daughters had a chihuahua she decided she no longer wanted and I now have a new hairy daughter. I’ll try to find out how to post a picture of her. I came back sick as a dog, but I’m so glad to be home. I would make another exception for flying to go to Italy! I’m very jealous. I really miss Lost Girl too, but I guess this way we won’t get burned out on it.

  60. October 2, 2012 at 2:32 pm

Hey everyone. 🙂 HUGS. I turned in my book 2 enits, now to finish my proposal for book 3.

Marsha, I wear your earrings to EVERY event and EVERYONE loves them. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN was pretty awesome (It’s 2012, queen Victoria is still in power and a Vampire). Have you read the parasol protectorate books? Those were fun. The series just finished and is s[inning off into 2 new ones.

Tony, I think what revolution needs is airships. No seriously. Hello alternate energy. Has no one remembered steam power? My Amish book is finished, I sent it off to some betas to see if it’s any good. being YA its full of feelings and being an Amish book lacks explosions, sex, and swearing, though there is a barn party and some buggy drag racing.

    • October 2, 2012 at 4:51 pm

Good luck on the new books. Was the bracelet too small for you? Send it back and I can add an extra inch or two, just let me know. I’m glad you like the earings, if I can come up with another way to use the gears, I’ll send them to you. Buggy drag racing? Ha!

      • October 4, 2012 at 8:15 pm

Missy confiscated it. SHE wears it with HER steampunk costume. I’ll have to send you a picture. It’s beautiful. Oh, and the buggy drag racing was pulled from a newspaper article of something that actually happened in Ohio. Oh, those crazy Amish.

    • October 3, 2012 at 9:45 am

(Revolution)If guns and bombs still work in this world then you are absolutely correct – of course there should be airships! Steam, water, fire…c’mon, give me some gadgets revolution writers(grin). Good luck on all the projects. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN…hhmmm, i’ll check it out. I am looking forward to GCarriger’s spinoff series. I’m in a reading rut, i haven’t read a book in 3 weeks which is a long time for me.

I got a seasonal job with KHOL’S. It’s one of their giant warehouses that fills e-orders nationwide. SHould keep me extra busy through January. I start monday(8th) 😎

      • October 3, 2012 at 10:06 am

Good luck on the job Tony! I didn’t know you were not working. I used to laugh at my mother not remembering the date, now I find I have to think about it myself.

  61. October 1, 2012 at 9:06 am

I was in a bookstore the other day and started reading the “new” alternate chapter to A Perfect Blood(from Trent’s viewpoint). I could only get through a few pages…i’m just not that interested in Trent(shrug). Good villian, not interested in getting to know him. Participated in a charity walk for diabetes saturday. I’m in terrible shape, let me tell you. Nice to hang out with family though. Went to an Italian restaurant afterwards and ate all the calories back that we had just burned off(and then some). I’ve been helping a family member clean up an old building they own and are trying to sell. So, I’ve been busier than usual(I haven’t forgotten about your story MUD). I need to get my trees trimmed/cut;scared to death of them falling over on my house;it’s been so dry this year. Hope everybody is doing well.

    • October 1, 2012 at 11:11 am

Hi Tony. I was wondering if you were doing OK. I have been doing a lot of canning, applesauce, jelly, that kind of thing. I’ve also really been making a lot of cupcakes which MUSt stop now. I’m really getting fat since my retirement. I’m teaching myself to make chainmaille jewelery. I’m really lokking for something good to read so if anyone has some suggestions, please let me know. I have not found anything that I’ve loved as much as the Hollows, and that has been ruined for me. I love the Ilona Andrews books, but obviously I need some others to fill in.

  62. September 25, 2012 at 11:04 am

I’ve got LOST GIRL withdrawals. I liked REVOLUTION, but i don’t know how it’s going to keep my interest. We’ll see. Remember when i told you about the book ROBOPOCALYPSE? It’s basically WORLD WAR Z but with robots. It was optioned by Steven Speilberg and i hear they’ve cast Chris Helmsworth(spell?) as the male lead and they are in negotiations with Anne Hathaway as well. I think it will be a better movie than a book. The book was OK. I’ve never been able to get into HAVEN on Syfy(shrug). The same with SUPERNATURAL(shrug). I don’t know why, sometimes things hit the spot ans sometimes they don’t. Sometimes i come back to something and i like it(Vampire Diaries) the second time around. I’m willing to give ONCE UPON A TIME a second chance(this sunday). I read an article in ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY that SHADOW AND BONE has been optioned for the movies and poeple who were involved with HARRY POTTER are going to be involved. I think i told you a couple of months ago that i liked it, but i am surprised that it has garnered such interest from illustrious filmakers(shrug). Watching 3rd and last season of BORED TO DEATH(HBO series) on dvd from library. That show was underrated, it is funny(Zach Galifanakis, Ted Danson), makes me laugh. It’s created and based loosely on the life of NY writer Jonathan Ames, someone i’ve read in the past. It’s about a struggling writer who decides to take a second job as a private detective. It’s set and filmed in NewYork city and it feels almost like a love letter to the city, if you know what i mean. Eccentric characters. Fun. Speaking of fun, i’m glad for some returning shows this fall. Castle, Modern Family, New Girl, 2 Broke Girls, Fringe, The Good Wife, etc.

    • September 25, 2012 at 11:47 am

I’ve caught the two new episodes of Bones this year, but not much else yet. In fact I’m having trouble finding something to hold my interest while I work on the chainmaille I’m trying to teach myself. I agree about REVOLUTION. They will have to make their characters very intriguing and TV isn’t that good at doing that. Books have much more time to develope the characters.

  63. September 23, 2012 at 3:57 pm

Oh man it feels good to sit down for a minute. My sister Sandy and I went up north to an apple farm and came back with pounds of apples. Today we made jars and jars of apple butter, apple sauce and my favorite cinnamon candy apple sauce. Be glad you are too far away for me to “Gift them to you”. I’m too old to play at Pioneer Woman.

    • September 24, 2012 at 9:13 am

No apple pie?(grin) I like me some apple pie. I got a library hold on JK Rowling’s first adult book coming out this week. I’m wondering what that’s going to be like.

      • September 24, 2012 at 12:25 pm

Found a great reccipe for rustic apple pie I might try with the leftovers. Apple pie is my favorite, right up there with lemon anything. Apple pies don’t last long around me so I don’t make them too often.

I’m in Fl. My mom’s computer is from the stoneages, so if anyone wants me, maybe you’ll get me. I hate my phone, too. It works only outside.

    • September 22, 2012 at 10:05 am

i probably need an upgrade(computer) as well. And–i have a very pedestrian cell phone. My neice and nephews always make fun of it. i might get a tablet this year…maybe…

  65. September 21, 2012 at 11:04 am

    I think it worked!
