Favorite Ivy scenes: This Witch For Hire:

Her  eyes grew fervent. Torso unmoving, she levered one of her knees up onto the coffee table, and then the other. God help me. She was coming at me.

“Living vamps can bespell people–if they want to be,” she whispered. The softness of her voice rubbed against my skin until it tingled. Double damn.

“What good is it if it only works on those who let you?” I asked, my voice harsh next to the liquid essence of hers.

Ivy’s lips parted to show the tips of her teeth. I couldn’t look away. “It makes for great sex–Rachel.”

   “Oh.”

    RYAN’S BIRTHDAY–PART 1 👿

Alyssa: “I don’t know what’s wrong with my stupid dog.”
Minias: “All dogs are stupid. Especially your dog Nikki. Can we please leave now?”
Alyssa: “It’s Ryan’s Birthday party. So, no–we can’t leave yet.”
Minias: “He IS old. He whines when you’re not around, and he smells like pee.”
    Alyssa: “What?!”
    Minias: “The dog.”
Alyssa: “Oh, gotcha.”(tries to pet Nikki who is being held by Minias;the small dog flinches and growls)
Minias: “I don’t know why we had to bring him.”
Alyssa: “Oh, hmmm, let me see, I can’t remember again why I brought him…Oh, that’s right–because there is a dragon living in my house!”
    Minias: “Testy, testy…very unattractive.”
(Door opens. In walks a pretty blonde woman escorted by a serious, scarred man)
    Minias: “Ceri!?”
Ceri: (tight smile)”Minias. I was told you were going to be here.”(gestures to her companion) “This is Quen.”
Alyssa: “Oh my gosh! This is so cool to meet you both!”
Quen: “Keep your distance, bat creature!”
Ceri: “Quen, honey, she’s a friend of Rachel and Ivy. I’m sorry, Alyssa, he’s a bit protective because of the baby.”
Alyssa: “That’s Okay, everybody is a bit freaked out when they first meet me. Even my dog is giving me the cold shoulder today.”
Minias: “Ceri, you are as big as a house, my love.”
Ceri: “Charming, Minias. I hear you’re living underneath this young woman’s bed. I can’t say I’m surprised. I assume Newt doesn’t know.”
Minias: (clears throat)”I would appreciate if she remains in the dark, Ceri.”
Ceri: “Of course.”(smiles condescendingly)”Now what about this dog?”
Alyssa: “Nikki. He’s been avoiding me like the plague today. I think he’s mad at me, for some reason.”
Quen: “Strange. I’m not sure we should be here.”
Ceri: “You know, this reminds me of something I’ve seen before. Rachel Morgan had a dog who avoided her for the longest time…Minias, have you sensed a wandering spirit around this young woman?”
    Alyssa: “What? A ghost?”
Minias: “I’ve avoided using magic lately. It attracts…unwanted attention.”
(Ceri chants a few words and a ghostly image of a young man appears)
Alyssa: (extends her black wings and flutters to the ceiling in a cloud of dust) “Holy shit! Who is that?!”
Ceri: “Get down here right now, young woman! You’re messing up my hair.”
(Alyssa floats back to the floor. The young male ghost looks frightened)
Ceri: (turns to ghost) “Who are you?”
ghost: “My-my name is Phil. I was entombed in a vase in the place across the street–”
Alyssa: “Rachel and Al’s Happily Ever After Club?!”
Phil: “I-I guess. I was in a vase on a shelf. Someone broke it and i fled. I’ve been hiding out here ever since.”
    Alyssa: “Wait a minute. Halloween?”
    Phil: “Yes.”
Quen: “I think we should leave, Ceri.”
Ceri: “Just a minute. Maybe we can help. Are you a demon spirit, Phil?”
Minias: “No, he isn’t. That much I can tell.”
Phil: “I used to work with Pierce as his student intern.”
    Ceri: “Fascinating!”
Minias: “Yesssss…what a small, strange world we live in.” (turns to Alyss) “Okay, mystery solved. Your mutt will revert back to his strange, lovable, urine-riddled self as soon as we leave this place. Anybody want a drink? There is alcohol here, right?”
Alyssa: “We have to help Phil.”
    Minias: “We do?”
    Ceri: “Yes, of course.”
    Quen: “I don’t know why.”
Phil: “I vote ‘yes’ as well.”
(door opens, in rushes a black-clad ninja)
Kylie: “Quick! Someone help! There’s been an accident across the street!”

Ha! This is a fun read. Seriously, you’re great at writing dialogue Tony. This was the part that made me laugh the hardest:

Alyssa: “We have to help Phil.”
      ….
Phil: “I vote ‘yes’ as well.”

      -lol- 😀

I think i see KH’s point in writing a first draft concentrating on dialogue–it really flows quickly. Thanks! It was fun to write too.

KH says she thinks Minias is dead, but i like to think of him as you imagined–just coping, getting through the day(and night). 😉

    * “Hello? Is anyone here?” she yelled. “Hello-o-o-o? Anybody?” The lights were all on and the place was decorated for Halloween, but nobody was here yet. Fyrefly looked back across the street at the Rachel&Al HEA Club and the place was packed. Loud 80’s Classic Rock was blaring from the club’s sound system. “Hmmm…maybe I should check out that party–Kylie and the Demons apparently know how to throw a party.”
    * “Did I hear someone in here?” From behind the bar a striking, female vampire dressed head to toe in tight black leather walked towards her. She towered over Fyrefly in 6-inch heels. Her skin was perfect. Her fangs were small, but Fyrefly suddenly couldn’t see anything else.
    * “I-I’m Fyrefly,” she managed. Her heart was pounding. She had been prepared to meet some scary people tonight, but she didn’t think she was going to be so…alone when she did. “Uh, Tony and Alyssa said to meet them here. I’m new.” She laughed nervously. “I mean, I’m from Australia. I haven’t been here before.”
    * The vampire stopped in front of her and smiled. Her fangs were much bigger seen up close. Then she surprised Fyrefly by sticking out her hand. “Hi Fyrefly, I’m Rachel.”
    * “You’re…,” something in Fyrefly’s brain pulled up short, hitting it’s brakes, signaled, then executed a neat U-Turn. “Rachel-Rachel?”
    * “Just the one Rachel,” she answered, grinning. “Rachel Morgan,” she said, shaking Flyrefly’s limp hand. “I was told this was the place to be. Do you like my costume?”
    * “Oh yeah, your costume is wicked cool! But…you smell like a vampire. And your fangs!”
    * “Charms. Cost a bundle if you buy them, but I made them myself. So–you’re Fyrefly?”
    * “Yes, ma’am.”
    * Rachel laughed. “Don’t call me ma’am. Where’s your costume?”
    * “It’s in my bag. I’m going as Lara Croft.” Rachel made an approving sound.
    * Rachel asked Fyrefly if she wanted to play a game of pool while they waited, so they did. Rachel was pretty good, but Fyrefly held her own.
    * “Can I ask you a personal question, Rachel?” Fyrefly asked, lining up a difficult shot.
    * “Sure.”
    * “You and Ivy…”
    * “Ahhh,” Rachel laughed, “the million dollar question.”
    * “I’m sorry, but I just have to ask, how come you and Ivy never got together?”
    * “Well, I love Ivy, maybe more than I’ve ever loved anybody.”
    * “But?”
    * “I just don’t think we’re meant to be…you know, that way–a romantic couple.”
    * “I shouldn’t have asked.”
    * “No, no, it’s fine. It gets easier to talk about with time.”
    * Fyrefly hesitated, then asked, “have you ever been sexually attracted to her?”
    * Rachel looked up from the shot she was lining up. She was bent over the table and looked impossibly sexy, her low-cut shirt revealing just a hint of cleavage. “Yes, of course I have. Ivy’s…beautiful. And strong. I admire her. But truly, I’ve thought about this till my head hurts. I’m not going to screw Ivy’s life up anymore than I already have. I love her, but I’m not her ‘happily ever after.’ I’m not. I’m her friend.”
    * The door to the club opened and an angry woman entered. She was wearing a long duster and a broad-rimmed hat. A large cross hung from a necklace around her neck, and she carried what looked like a cross-bow that hung loosely on her back.
    * “Hi, Ivy. This is Fyrefly.” Rachel grinned. “She’s new.”
    * “Hello,” the woman said, not looking at her. She crossed the room to the bar, loudly opening and closing the cabinet doors looking for a glass.
    * “Fyrefly’s a big fan,” Rachel added, helpfully. “Why don’t you stop stomping around the place and say hello?”
    * Ivy poured herself a drink. “I believe I did.” She looked up for the first time and Fyrefly could see that her eyes were clear and she hoped that was a good thing.
    * The door opened again, and in walked three people. One was a female pixy, and the other two were weres–one was a male tiger, and the other was a female werewolf carrying a large cake.
    * “Hey beautiful, I see you’ve met Rachel and Ivy?” the tiger said.
    * “Antonio?!”
    * “Yep. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”
    * “Oh my gosh! You’re a tiger!”
    * “Of course I’m a tiger. You know Jenn and Marsha, right?”
    * “I baked you a birthday cake,” Marsha said. “It took everything I had to keep this one,” she indicated by hooking a thumb towards the tiger, “from eating all of it!”
    * Ivy came around the bar to stand in front of Fyrefly. She heald out her hand and smiled. “I was just messing with you, happy birthday, Fyrefly. And–HAPPY HALLOWEEN as well.”
    * Fyrefly shook Ivy’s hand and accepted hugs from the others. Soon, the club filled with friends, both new and old. She stayed late, and danced until the police asked them to stop.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY FYREFLY!!! 😎

This was great, Tony. 😀 You had the chance to do some R/I fanfic and give them the HEA we all want but you stayed true to Kim’s apparent plan. And you really got me in the beginning… I didn’t even suspect that was Rachel! Ha!! Fun story! “Kylie and the Demons throw a great party.” LOL!!

Because Kylie has misplace her mind, she decides to go into “forbidden” territory. While exploring the room, the ninja was joined by another.

    “What are you doing here?”

Kylie blinked and looked over her shoulder. “Hey, Ivy!” She bounded over to the vampire and hugged her. “Y’know, we’ve never actually gotten to talk. I am rather fond of you. You’re pretty cool, and we kinda go through the same kinda things. Kinda this ‘who am I’ kinda thing. See, I’ve recently gone through some serious thinking about what’s in here,” she says as she taps her chest. “But I also know who we are changes with the choices we make, and the experiences we have. And what the hell is this conversation turning into?”

Ivy almost didn’t realize the ninja was giving her an opportunity to speak. “I’m not even sure why you’re talking to me. You’re the demon lover.”

Kylie rolled her eyes. “There are some things I can’t talk to Al about, and it’s not like Rachel hangs out here. And like I said before, I like you.” Then a look of shock crossed her face. “Not like like-like you. I mean, you’re attractive and all that, but, like, I’m more bi-curious, don’t-want-a-girlfriend-but-friends-with-benefits-kinda-bi, not like actually bi-bi, and I’ve kinda got this girl . . . buddy. Yes, I have a girlbuddy.”

“A girlbuddy?” Ivy asked, smiling at the silly ninja.

“That’s what I said.” Then she noticed the vampire’s expression. “Don’t laugh at me! That term took me point-five seconds to come up with!”

“I’m not laughing at you!” Ivy tilted her head as she looked at the ninja. “You’re rather adorable. For a demon lover,” she added with a wink.

“Thank ye kindly,” Kylie replied with a wind of her own. “Okay, I need to find my mind. See ya later!” The ninja waved and disappeared in her red poof.

    • August 7, 2010 at 8:59 am

Antonio walks in and spots a familiar figure lounging on the couch.

      “Hey Ivy, what’s going on?”

Ivy smiles. “Hey yourself. Just popped in for a moment. You know, you’ve got Ninja’s.”

“I’m sorry,” Antonio says, “did you Ninja’s?”

“Well…there was just the one.” Ivy smiles, as if she’s sharing a private joke. “I guess one is enough.”

Cookie and coffee sound wonderful, Alyssa. I’m so freakin fat I don’t think I’d better eat any though. Hannah pretty much used up my fun calories for the rest of the year, and the “Sugar Season” is really just around the corner. Mom and I are heading out for California rolls and tempura green beans. This place serves sushi with brown rice and rice paper for those of us (me) who do not like Nori.

  7. July 16, 2010 at 7:16 am

Alyssa stepped into the R/I room, trailing her gaze over the abandoned sofas, the remains of a party, countless meals and the empty spot where her couch used to stand. She smiled in a nostalgic way, remembering that she had moved it over to the DS page, and went to pick up some of the scattered rubbish.
“BJ was probably here and Al,” she muttered to herself. “Judging by the smell. Bloody evil spawn.” Not for the first time, she wondered what Kylie saw in the two, the poltergeist and the raper of women and thief of souls.
Needing space to think and something to do whilst she streamlined her thoughts, she continued to clean the rest of the room, the action methodical enough for her to find peace. She was just finishing mopping the floor when the door opened, startling her. At first she thought it might be the demon or ghost but when the figure stepped into the room, her stomach turned and she gripped the mop tighter.
Ivy Tamwood stepped into the room, graceful and deadly as ever, her features lost in thought. It didn’t take long for her to realize that she wasn’t alone though as she turned towards Alyssa with her vampire quickness, her pupils dilating with surprise. Alyssa almost brought the mop up to defend herself, but then dropped it quickly, lest the vampire decided that she needed to defend herself.
“Room Service.” The NaSty said embarrassed, trying to lighten the mood. Ivy visibly reined herself in and gave the young woman a blank look.
“What are you doing here?” She queried and went to the fridge, her whole walk oozing vampire grace.
Not sure whether she was out of the woods yet, Alyssa cleared her throat and picked up the mop again, carefully continuing where she left off. “Thinking,” she said. “Cleaning. I should ask you the same thing. Shouldn’t you be in the church?”
Ivy gave her a one shouldered shrug and took out a carton of orange juice from the fridge. “I had an appointment,” she said. “Thinking about what?”
Alyssa didn’t take her gaze from the floor. Some of the others had met Ivy through the course of the room’s history, but she had never come face to face with her. “Life,” she replied. “In general. Personal stuff.” She paused. “You as well actually.”
Ivy blinked surprised as she turned to her again, her features demanding and explanation. Alyssa sighed and did the last bit of the floor. She had worked her way into a corner and knew that if she tipped Ivy to her Other Side there would be nowhere to run. “Kim Harrison wrote about you yesterday,” she said. “Though, I only got to her post today.”
Ivy shifted awkwardly at the mention of the author. It must be hard knowing that your fate rested in the hands of someone other than God. “She says many thing,” she said quietly and turned back to the fridge.
Alyss made a considering sound and leaned against her mop, surveying her handiwork.
“Yes,” she said. “But she said something… That got me thinking.” She paused and looked at the vampire. “She said that you have no arch enemy, apart from yourself. That you battle is within but that it’s very hard to portray that in the graphic novel because obviously you can’t really draw someone’s thought that aren’t words.” She sighed. “It made me think that life is like a graphic novel. That people are not aware of your inner demons unless its carried over like a physical representation of evil.”
Ivy looked at her calmly, not giving any hint as to her thoughts. “What are you getting at?” she queried.
Alyssa smiled slightly and shrugged. “I guess what I’m thinking about is that I like you because I understand you. That there are bits of me that is like Rachel, the bits of me that I show to the world. But, deep down in me there is you. Like you, I am my own Hitler and my only real enemy is myself.”
The two women looked at each other for a long time. “Hitler was a tyrant,” Ivy said. “And generally considered to be an evil man.”
Alyssa chuckled softly and nodded. “That is the general opinion,” she said. “And, I won’t delve into that. But – he also got things done, for all his evil deeds. He almost had the world on its knees. He pushed forward until he went mad. And then he pushed a little more.”
Ivy fixed her with a sharp look. “What are you saying?” she queried sharply.
Alyss quickly raised her hands and shook her head. “I’m just saying,” she said quietly. “That to get things done, i need to listen to my inner Hitler just like you need to listen to your inner vampire. That our enemies are the ones that mould us, shape us into beings that can fight them. They make us better than ourselves.”
There was a pause as Alyssa trailed off with Ivy looking at her, a small smile playing in the corner of her thin mouth. With a shake of her head, she went back to the door but paused there to look back at the red head still standing in her corner.
“I’ll see you around Alyssa,” she said with a small smile. “You can have some orange juice if you want to.”
The young woman let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding and smiled at the vampire. “Yeah,” she said slowly. “See ya.”

    • July 16, 2010 at 8:14 am

      * Marsha shows up with the sofa* “Look I even got out my carpet cleaner and cleaned it up. It doesn’t smell like those damned demons anymore!” Taking the mop from Alyssa’s hands, she puts an arm around her shoulders. “Don’t look now honey, but I think you’re growing up. You know this place is looking pretty good. We need to have a certain birthday party over here. I’m feeling kind of guilty for deserting the place anyhow. I’ve spent a lot of happy hours here with my NaSty friends.” *Pulling out a bag of premium Kona coffee, she grins at Alyssa* Want some?

      • July 17, 2010 at 1:19 am

Alyssa takes the coffee gratefully and looked around the room, feeling happy and at home.
“I hate growing up,” she said in general – then laughed. “And, what’s more, I hate learning things myself. I’m a strict teacher and a difficult student.” She paused. “I’m going to bake some cookies!”

I’ve always said you need to embrace your fears, embrace the darkness if only to acknowledge that it exists, not because you love it or want to give in to it, but to guard it so that if it creeps up behind you and surprises you when you least expect it…you’ll be ready for it. I see so many people influenced by the darkness within because they deny that it’s there. Mmmmm…I suppose that it could be useful if distilled, re-shaped…but, i don’t know – i see Ivy “acknowledging” the “inner-Hitler”(grin) but i think she knows all to well it’s pluses are out-weighed by the minuses…I think she’s trying to get in touch with her inner-Roosevelt and her inner-Churchill(laugh) I know I’ve left your metaphor for one of my own (grin), but i don’t always see our inner-devil as being all that helpful in the end, maybe we are wiser for knowing it, again embracing it, but not trying to be shaped by it…

      • July 17, 2010 at 1:15 am

*laughs* I’d hate to embrace my inner churchhill, he was a drunkard. As to embracing my inner Roosevelt. YES!! He was amazing. And his wife.

Hey Alyss! I brought some hummus and pita! 🙂
Don’t forget – it’s lonely at the top. What sort of happiness can be found in a world brought to it’s knees in such a way? Knowing the inner demon is there – seeing it’s shape and character – that’s a good chunk of the battle, isn’t it. But then there is the being free from it – or at least not letting it control us. The being able to see that we CAN bring the world to it’s knees in the manner of Hitler, OR we can choose to try to do the same in the manner of our heroes. If Ivy doesn’t let herself see beyond the enticing power of her inner tyrant, she’ll never see that there is something even greater to be found in synergy. 😉

      • July 21, 2010 at 12:10 pm

You know, I was thinking about this this morning. You’re talking about taking the strength inherent in your dark side and channeling it towards accomplishing something good. While I was talking about using your better qualities in spite of being able to get somewhere simliar using your darker qualities. But it got me wondering if we’re actually saying the exact same thing. I mean, are human qualities inherently good or bad? Or is it the way we use our qualities that makes them good or bad?

I asked Kim about living vamps and auras…She had answered a question by MEG asking about auras, telling her everyone (but full vamps) have an aura and they can dissapate and/or be strengthened. I asked her if living vamp’s auras dissapate more easily/more often and that was why they feel a need to bite, and share auras. She said no, she didn’t think a living vamps aura dissapates any more than anyone elses, but maybe they are a little addicted to having a “fuller” aura. Interesting.

    Thanks gang!

“All or nothing Rachel,” Ivy whispered. “I won’t touch you again. It is your choice.”

Rachel sat up in bed with a gasp and turned her head to face the door. Right across the hall was Ivy, her best friend, business partner and the star of her darkest dreams.

“Urrrg.” Rachel threw herself back against her pillow with a groan and flung her arm across her eyes. “What am I going to do,” she whispered to herself, “I love her as more than a friend, more than I should as my best friend, but I’ve never thought about any other woman in that way..”

Sighing to herself, Rachel rolled on her side to face the door and Ivy in her room across the hall. She knew that Ivy wanted her as a lover and partner for all time. Ivy, Ivy, Ivy. With her gray silk voice, beautiful hair and dark enchanting eyes.

And her teeth, Rachel thought with a shiver. Can’t forget those teeth. Slowly Rachel raised her hand to draw her finger down the scar that Ivy had given her the last time they had tried to find a blood balance. It had almost worked, until Rachel had a memory of Kisten’s killer.

Pulling her hand away from her neck, Rachel decided to try to be reasonable and lay the facts out. Did she love Ivy? Yes, more than anyone else, including Jenks. Ok, could she picture her life without Ivy in it? No. In fact, when she thought she had lost both Ivy and Jenks, she almost took her own life.

Alright, next: did she find Ivy attractive. Well sure, duh. She always noticed who beautiful Ivy looked no matter what she was in; her work leathers, in her robe first thing in the morning with her hair all mussed or getting ready to go out on a date.

Rachel sucked in her breath. On a date. With someone else. Just what was that feeling in her stomach? Was she jealous? No, she wanted Ivy to be happy right? Right? Then why did the thought of Ivy with someone else cause a drop in her middle?

Rolling onto her stomach, Rachel punched her pillow into a more comfortable position before snuggling into it. She drew in a deep breath and caught a whiff of Ivy’s sent. Incense. Closing her eyes, Rachel thought about all her past relationships in comparison to her feeling for Ivy.

Nick. Well, Ivy had him pegged pretty early on, and Rache had to agree with her. Kisten, there was that same pang in her middle with thinking of the loss of Kist. Nope not quite ready to deal with that yet. Marshall, Marshall was a good friend and a power pull doesn’t a relationship make. Pierce. Yes, Pierce had a good hold on her, but is he actually good for her? Hmmm.

The only one that even came close was Kisten. God, she missed Kisten and knew that Ivy did too. But they had both moved on. Rachel to Pierce, and Ivy to Glenn. Did Ivy love Glenn? Had it gone that far? Did she love Pierce. Maybe, Rachel knew that she cared for Pierce and that Ivy cared for Glenn. But could it go any further? “I just don’t know,” Rachel whispered. “Ivy, I’m so confused.”

Frustrated with herself, Rachel got up to go to the bathroom. After flushing, she washed her hands and looked at herself in the mirror. Grumbling, she leaned back over and washed her face and for good measure, brushed her teeth.

Slowly heading back to her bedroom, Rachel paused across from Ivy’s door. She shuffled her feet backwards until she was leaning against the wall. Tapping her fingers against the wall she muttered, “Screw it. There’s only one way to find out, right?”

Pushing off the wall, Rachel headed for Ivy’s door.

Right. I bow under peer pressure. I’m putting the story here, lol, i want to share it with you guys, but not associate it with my usual stuff, like my blog or my other fan ficiton, lol. I’ll post it there when I work myself up to it (ff.net now) but for now – here it is:
The reason I wrote it and why it is… worded the way it is, you MUST read this first.
in november, i had to write sex scene between two characters. And, I struggled my arse off. A writing friend of mine suggested writing something that i’m totally uncomfortable with. Using words, ect that I would NEVER use otherwise. Ie like – fuck me. ect ect ect.
This scene sprang to mind. Now, i know that it will never happen this way in the hollows and essentially, it’s out of character, but it was an exersize which helped me get on with the other story. Now, i have this piece of smutty wrtiting in my archive, and i have nothing to do with it, lol. or can do nothing with it.

“Take it!” Rachel breathed. “Fucking take it.”

Clinging to her, Ivy groaned, aware of Rachel’s hip touching hers. Her hands strayed down to unbuckle Rachel’s trousers to allow her fingers easy access to the witch’s sex. Momentarily stilling her bloodlust, she kissed Rachel’s scar, knowing that it would drive her ever closer to sexual ecstasy. She thought about how long she’s been denied this and for a brief moment hated the red head with all her heart.

“Take it!” Rachel breathed again, her hands digging into Ivy’s back as she drew herself closer, her centre aching to be touched.

Ivy growled, wanting to make her wait, wanting to make her beg for the pleasure she had denied her so long.

Rachel groaned, unreleased and reached for Ivy’s scar. “Please,” she begged. “Please take it.”

Ivy still fought against herself, her long fingers finding Rachel’s sex moist and waiting. She cupped the witch’s sex and squeezed hard, dragging another moan from her roommate.

“Damn it,” Rachel breathed and grinded her hips against Ivy’s hand. “Fuck…”

“I’m going to take you,” Ivy growled. “I’m going to take your centre, and I’m going to take you… Fuck.” Rachel whimpered as she found her clit and starting rubbing it. The witch almost collapsed but Ivy grabbed onto her with her other arm and supported her weight against her. Slowly, she started playing with Rachel’s clit between her fingers while she gently sucked on Rachel’s scar without breaking her skin.

“Please,” Rachel begged, her one arm releasing its hold on Ivy’s neck and travelling down to her own waistband. “Ivy, I’m begging you.”

Feeling Rachel’s cream on her fingers, Ivy moved them down, exploring the witch’s honey haven without quite loosing her touch on her clit. Rachel’s hand had loosened her own trousers but when her hands slipped into her underwear Ivy growled at her and jerked away, pressing hard on Rachel’s clit. This was her moment to take the woman; she was not going to let Rachel interfere. Not again.

Getting the message, Rachel backed of and leaned against her, already weak kneed from the rising sexual ecstasy. Pleased, Ivy continued her exploration, finding Rachel’s slit and running her fingers over it. The witches smell was overwhealming, reminding her how much she loved it, how much she loved the woman. In response to her touch, Rachel moaned her name, dropping her head on Ivy’s shoulder. “You’re killing me,” she moaned, breathless. “Ivy, please…”

Her plea crumbled the last of Ivy’s resolve as she closed her eyes and spread her lips from her teeth. “I take it,” she said. “I take you…”

With that, she thrusted her fingers into Rachel’s cunt at the same time she bit down on the witch’s old vampire scar. Rachel cried out, first in pain, then in ecstasy as the vamp saliva hit her system, her blood like a pulsing heat in Ivy’s mouth. Ivy closed her eyes and started pushing her fingers into Rachel’s wet sex at the same pace as she drank from her cut. Their breathing rose and fell unison as wave upon wave of blood ecstasy spilled through them. Rachel moaned, then screamed her name as Ivy put another, third finger into her cut and started pushing it in and out. Unable to stand it anymore, Rachel cried out Ivy’s name one last time before her breath went hoarse as she had orgasm upon orgasm. Ivy held her quivering, wet body upright as Rachel’s muscles contracted, her blood pushing into her mouth as the witch shuddered and convulsed against her.

And, then, there was a slow release as she came down. Ivy swallowed and slowly pulled her mouth away from Rachel’s neck. She kissed the fresh cut, listening to the witch’s ragged breathing, fully aware that the only thing keeping her up was her strong grip on her back. When she felt the witch start to stand on her own, she slipped her fingers from the witch’s pussy and brought it to her mouth, licking her fingers to get the taste of blood out of her mouth. Rachel sniffed loudly and rested her head against Ivy’s shoulder, her glazed eyes staring at the room beyond.

“I love you,” she whispered as Ivy drew her into a steadying embrace, breathing in her redwood smell and savouring her salty sweet taste. “I love you…”

Jenn (in human form)slowly enters the clubhouse after a night at Kylie’s Birthday Party to see Ivy slumped in the corner of the couch.

“Hi Ivy, I was wondering if you would be interested in spending the evening of my birthday with me?” Jenn blushes. “I have to work overtime that day, but I would love to see you in the evening, if it’s convenient for you, of course.”

Ivy looks over at Jenn, and slowly smiles. As she stands, Ivy stretches enough to show off her bellybutton ring and colapses in on herself. As she slowly saunters towards Jenn, who is still standing in the door, her smile stretches to show a hint of fang. Resting her fingertips briefly on Jenn’s shoulder she says in her gray silk voice, “I’ll see what I can do.”
With her eyes wide, Jenn takes a deep breath of Ivy’s incense & slowly turns to watch Ivy leave the clubhouse.

    SPOILER***SPOILER***SPOILER***

A couple of Ivy quotes from BMS:

Ivy raised her hand. “I hate the beach,” she said mildly.

“Wow, Rachel,” she whispered, sending her orange-juice-scented breath all over me! “You look like a Bite-Me-Betty doll in a prom dress.”

  19. March 23, 2010 at 2:41 pm

    Right, here’s a question:
What do you think would bring a drastic change to Rachel’s relationship with Ivy?
Personally – I think it would take perhaps another female influence. One that Rachel would be very… open to for lack of a better way to put it. One that maybe manipulates Rachel or something.

I’ve got some supper for us. It was my day off so I baked as well. Made some vegetarian pies. Bare with me, lol, they are edible i can assure you.
They have tomato, onion, curry, peas and sweet corn in (with a few other magic spices…). Go on, lol, have a try.

      March 23, 2010 at 3:26 pm

Oh my gosh Alyssa, they sound really good to me. I could eat one for sure, love curry if it’s not so hot it makes me sweat. I think Kim is changing Rachel and Ivy’s relationship slowly right now, maybe because she doesn’t want to make all of us R/I people too shocked. She is trying to let us get used to the idea. I believe that when Ivy tells Rachel she loves another person, that is going to be the end of them. If it was me, I would not even be able to stay close freinds with her. The history would just keep getting in the way every time I saw her. They would likely drift apart. And I will cry my eyes out.

    • Antonio Rich
      March 23, 2010 at 5:34 pm

Honestly, I think of ALL the KH and DC books, there have only been a couple of love/sex scenes. Kim always says Ivy crawling across that table shocked her, and she’s been dealing with it ever since. I think judging from her past comments, she’s a bit defensive about the big, LONG build-up in sexual tension between the two and she wants to back off that before it consumes everything else about her series. (I know! I know! That’s what drew me to the story too!!!). But–I have to respect that it’s her story to tell. I think she is somewhat sensitive to alot of fans, and that is why a strong, interesting female love interest – Daryl – is going to be added to the story. I think she is going to find a unique way for Ivy and Rachel to further cement their relationship. I really do. She DID say awhile back that bk 10 is alot about ideas, rumination(my words–i can’t remember hers), talk–to me that says romantic ideas explored. I’ve given up hope that R&I are going to have a true HEA(Covers head from flying skillet! “Hey, I was going to eat some of that!”)but…we’ll see…

  20. Antonio Rich
    March 21, 2010 at 11:28 am

One thing I’ve always wanted to see in the books is a meeting between Rachel and Ivy’s mom. We met her father once. And, we’ve met Erica a few times, but still no mom. How cool would that be? People have asked Kim about it, but she doesn’t seem too interested. I was always intrigued with the fact that she had her first death somewhat around the same time Rachel’s dad died.(i think?) I thought maybe Kim was keeping open the possibility that the two were connected…

    • Marsha
      March 21, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I’ve wondered about Ivy’s mother myself. I think Ivy’s fear of loosing her soul comes from her mother’s death coming when she was young and really needed her mother’s influence the most. She is there for her sister to help her get develope a healthy self image, but no one was there for Ivy. By the way Anotonio, your brownies are in the oven, I’ll try to ship them off in the morning.

    • Jenn
      March 22, 2010 at 9:23 am

I wonder if a meeting between Rachel & Ivy’s mom would push Rachel harder to find something to help Ivy keep her soul?

    • March 23, 2010 at 1:11 pm

Definitively! It’s freaky that you posted this because a few days ago I was at the resturant wondering whether we’ll ever ‘meet’ Mrs. Tamwood. She must be a frightening vampire.

    • March 23, 2010 at 2:06 pm

I’d love to see that meeting too! I think we’ll eventually meet her. It seems significant that we haven’t met her yet. Maybe it is her absence that is more significant than anything about her we have yet to find out. But maybe there is something about her that will be a big reveal in some future book.

I saw your note about the 10 years in the furutre thing – cool question. I’m thinking… 🙂

PS she also left a note that you left an empty wine bottle on the floor by the couch, and a few empty beer bottles on the pool table (and gee thanks, no one invited me to play). She has very specific rules on washing out the bottles and placing them in the recycling bin ( I wouldn’t f**k with her on this 😉 )

*And from the couch, under a bundle of blankets, with a geriatric sausage dog and a faint wiff of vampire incense there came a moan, then a curse and finally…*
“And that’s in the wrong place…”
*Alyssa sits up, blankets falling to the floor, exposing only her geriatric dachhund.*
“I’m going to burn this computer I swear. Really.”
*She pulls up the blankets, muttering something about a pre autumn chill and carries on typing. Before long, Lady Lara Croft suddenly stands up from the couch, leaving the sanctuary of the blankets and going to the porch where a certain vampire sits, waiting.*
“Count yourself lucky,” the brittish aristrocrat says in general as she pulls a chair closer and sits down to watch the night. “That THAT woman doesn’t do Hollows fan fiction…”

Right, here’s a random, fun, totally senseless topic of R/I discussion.
What would you do if you meet them in the street together? What would you tell them?

btw, i cooked supper, which rarely happens as I tend not to eat at night. But, i got home early and I was starving. So, for supper (or it goes great as a breakfast option as well) we have my chick pea and sweet potato stew. Comes with chick peas, sweet potatoes, onions, tomatoes, chillies, some basil leaves (fresh), Curry and french loaf bread. It’s great with eggs (on scrambled eggs) and I’m sure beef strips… Anybody for a game of snakes and ladders or something? I foudn this box of games…

I would immeadiately release a crap load of Ivy’s vampire pheramones into the air (I’ve been bottling them whenever she gets worked up) and then just see what happens 😉

Oh Lord Tiffany! You might cause anew population explosion doing that.

mwahahaha. I’d be game for soemthing like that, lol!

I’m not sure what I’d do. Probably just say hello as we passed by (at least the first couple times). After that, I might work up the courage to try a conversation with them.
However, I would want to make sure that it was not when Tiffany had released all those pheramones!

Oh yes, I will play snakes & ladders with you Alyss! And thanks for the food, you’re right it tastes amazing on my eggies!

      • March 16, 2010 at 12:44 pm

Right shiny! The room’s all prepped. see? There’s the ladder – I’ll release the snake (black mamba) and the first one who reaches the ladder lives!!!

      • March 16, 2010 at 6:21 pm

Wow! This is the most exciting version of “snakes and ladders” I’ve ever seen! I’ll just watch though, if that’s okay 😉

        Phew, that was close!

I’ll have to try that Alyssa. I have been having some issues with fatigue lately and my doctor wants me to try an all natural diet with no processed foods for awhile to see how I react. She thinks it could be an allergy. So, no more fun for me for awhile.

      • March 16, 2010 at 12:45 pm

OK guys, I feel the guilt of the Universe descend on me if I waste food, so we are going to have refrigerator fritta this morning. I have a large hunk of Fontina that is too good to waste. Let’s see, green onions, oh! red bell pepper, bacon (I’ll make you one without, Alys), nope, saving the asparagus for dinner tonight. Looks like that’s it guys. I do have some really good strawberries and you’re nice I’ll share them. Breakfast in a few minutes.

Strawberries?! I LOOOOOOOVE strawberries! Not as much as cherries, but it’s a real close second!

    • March 14, 2010 at 1:05 pm

Mmmm thanks Marsha. Sounds like the fixins for a breakfast skillet. I’ll chop up some potatos to put all this on top of … with an egg for those who are so inclined.

Then who’s up for a game of pool on that table Tony found?

    • March 15, 2010 at 1:15 am

Jippy! *skips over for breakfast* A LOT better than mine would’ve been, lol, just plain cereal today. Though… I’ll add that here then we have a sort of continental breakfast. Here’s come cream as well for the strawberries…
      What?

    March 12, 2010 at 12:37 pm

OK–I want to ask you guys a question: We all love Rachel&Ivy, right?

I think Rachel is straight but – BUT! Calm down…order…ORDER!(takes off boot and bangs it on table) – I DO believe she is in love with Ivy AND attracted to her as a friend, business partner, and as a sexual being. I’ve had a front-row seat to a few of these straight-gay love affairs, and they usually don’t turn out to be a HEA. But–since Rachel has the ability to reset her biological clock(and those she loves) she and her loved-ones are nearly immortal, right? Can one really expect someone to love just one, and only one, FOREVER? So, I think there is ample room (probably after the series is over, timeline-wise) to incorporate more than one kind of love-affair into one’s life here. Soooooo–

1)Do you think Rachel is straight?(ducks flying fruit. “Hey! No throwing things!”)

2)Would you be OK with R & I having their HEAs at end of series w/others, but with the knowledge that they will always be together in the future as friends and lovers in some capacity?

    • Marsha
      March 12, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Well it’s certain that Rachel enjoys sex with men. I think she is scared to death that she will enjoy sex with Ivy as well, I think she would be more bi-sexual. I really do believe that she would be happy with Ivy, but that she feels if she gives in to that attraction it would be one more way she is not “like eveyone else”. I think she has this dream of having the same kind of white picket fence, main stream America life, like she thought her parents had. It doesn’t seem like she can have that with Ivy unless she realizes that what they could have would be better than that for them both. No I will not like them being with others, I just have to accept it, and then write my own ending 🙂

    • March 13, 2010 at 8:01 pm

*takes off shoe and throws it at Antonio, who swiftly dodges it*
      😉 LOL

      1) We’d have to ask Rachel to know for sure – but, I think she is bisexual and is attracted to qualities she more commonly finds or reacts to in men.

      2) Such as – just as the curtain is going down with HEA found elsewhere… Ivy looks at Rachel and tingles of desire run through her? 😉 *sigh* I’m filled with conflicting thoughts right now. Kim made me like Rachel with Peirce, so I know she can make me love her HEA. On the one hand, Ivy hasn’t really been there for Rachel in the way Rachel needed someone to be there for her. On the other hand, Ivy lets Rachel make her own mistakes and doesn’t try to control her. I think that we have more to see/read before we know what Rachel will ultimately want from an ‘other half’. But if her HEA is going to be Ivy, Ivy has a lot of personal growth to get through first. And then the growth that they both need as individuals has to put them in a place where they still both complement each other. But I stand by my previous comments that the long term story of the two of them is very romantic.

    • March 14, 2010 at 6:58 am

*comes in from porch, tossing another apple in the air.* It’s for eating I promise.
*shoo’s cat off of couch and sits down*
I think that Marsha has a point. I think that Rachel is scared to death of actually enjoying sex with a woman and finding out that she might lean more towards one side than the other. The side, for that matter, that she’s been avoiding…
I’ve always sort of thought that Rachel’s in denial, to quote one of my favorite lines from the L-Word: Everybody’s straight until their not…
But, I’ll be the first to admit that sexuality is fluid. You fall in love with the being, not the body and sometimes, the body’s not the one you thought you’d go for. I’ve met women who’ve spend years with men, and then one day just flowed over to the other side. I think perhaps with Rachel, that might be the case. I think she’ll spend most of her youth pursuing men and then one day, when we won’t see even, she’ll wake up one morning, missing the smell of orange juice and vampire incense. We all need different things in different phases of our lives, which brings me to the concept for FOREVER being in love with the same person. That’s all very well, but people change. Heck, you as a person change the whole time.
For Rachel to be happy with Ivy though, she’ll have to let go (as Marsha says) of her mainstream dream. I call it the White Dress Syndrome. (White dress referring to the white wedding dress). Once she can do that, things might change.
I also feel that Ivy needs to work through some personal issues before she can give Rachel what she wants.
Will I be happy with them ending up with other people? No. I’ll be terribly dissapointed. Their relationship is the single pairing that receives the most attention through the series, their partnership the one that’s constantly developing. It would be nice to know that we haven’t been holding onto this R/I dream for nothing.
I still think that they mighht not be together now, but one day, when they are both mature and older, they’ll come together, and stay together. You don’t let go of a love and friendship like theirs for nothing.

      • Marsha
        March 14, 2010 at 8:53 am

I agree with what you say Alyssa. If we have to get through Kim pairing my favorite couple with other people, I will always hold out hope that they will still be so close to each other that they can always realize what they are missing is right there in front of them. Maybe we can get another Hollows book that takes place 10 years or so later when they have both come to their senses. I will not give up my hope!*singing out from fantasy land now*

        March 14, 2010 at 11:06 am

        Such great, thoughtful replies!

Marsha, you’ve actually touched on a future discussion question that i want to introduce eventually. I call it the “ten years after” question(LOL)…ie where do you think everyone is 10 yrs after the bk series ends. I’ll have to ask it on our main discussion page later this week.

    • March 14, 2010 at 1:55 pm

I agree with what you all have said – Marsha on being scared to death, and Alyssa on the fluidness of sexuality (put so much more eloquently than my brief statement on being attracted to qualities 😉 ). There are a lot of refrences to souls and bodies being seprate things, and I think this line of thought is a part of why it’s there in the story so much. For example, the demon registry matching up a soul with body X. Or Peirce being a soul in someone else’s body. Or Rachel being attracted to Ivy despite her not being in the type of body she has previously been attracted to. Al looking different ways for different people. So, to me this seems like a primary theme in the character threads that Kim is weaving.

And some ammending… If Rachel has a potential HEA with Ivy – no I will not be happy knowing it occurs at some point in the future where we don’t get to read about it actually coming about. Way too unsatisfying. If their paths are coming full circle to lead to each other, I definitely want to read that ending!

      • Marsha
        March 14, 2010 at 3:32 pm

Me too Tiffany. I really want to see how Kim would handle them walking off into the sunset so to speak. I’m sure I would absolutely love it.

      • March 14, 2010 at 9:44 pm

Yeah – I really really hope that is the ending we are heading to, because I’d love to see it too.

Hey – just to clarify my thoughts on the subject, since we’re all talking about sexuality over here. I think sexuality is more like a continuum than opposite poles of black or white (or even three fixed points of black white and grey). Some people’s sexuality can be more fluid than others – specifically the people more towards the center of the spectrum. I think that probably the farther you are from the center of that spectrum, the less fluid your sexuality is. Just my thoughts.

I just got home after going to a local pool hall w/a married buddy. He brought me girl scout cookies his two little girls sold me! (LOL) Mmmmm…love me some girl scout cookies! You know what we need here? A pool table! Just like the one Ivy and Rachel have at the church. I’ll look for a used one… 🙂

Love your taste Tony! Playing pool, some girl scout cookies… sounds like a nice night!

  30. March 11, 2010 at 7:13 pm

Okay – topic for speculation: What’s up with the Ivy and the OJ? It’s really endearing that she is always drinking Orange Juice and I think it somehow helps her bloodlust. Do you guys think it is the thick blood-like texture? Something about the chemical makeup of oranges? That the color is similar to the color of Rachel’s pre-smutted aura?

    • Marsha
      March 11, 2010 at 9:08 pm

I don’t know why she chose orange juice. It certainly doesn’t taste or look like blood. It is thicker than water or tea.

    • March 11, 2010 at 11:06 pm

I probably don’t need to, but I guess I should clarify that the thicker OJs are the same thickness as I IMAGINE blood to be, LOL 😉

    • March 12, 2010 at 2:14 am

I think also that the orange juice masks the smell of blood. Remember a lot o Rachel’s perfumes are like orange juice. Citrus flavoured.

      • Jenn
        March 12, 2010 at 8:26 am

Yup, I agree completely! I think that’s why she drinks the OJ too…

“Tony, try a few bites.” “Naahhh, I’ll pass. Last year, I got sick.” “that was LAST year. Just try it.”

Oh my God Antonio, that’s my nonna talking! “You barely touched you dinner honey, don’t you like it? Here have some more, you’re too skinny.” Is it any wonder I’m overweight? Between you and me, I don’t even like turkey. I eat very little meat mainly because I don’t like it very much. My family is all carnivorous, so I had to convince myself that if it comes wrapped in styrofoam and plastic wrap it doesn’t come from real live animals.

    • March 11, 2010 at 7:19 pm

I know what you mean Marsha – our food is so over-processed. I like meat – but I do have moral quandries with how animals are treated in facotry farms – so I buy the free range organic stuff. I like the tofu and veggie burgers too.

      • March 11, 2010 at 10:06 pm

My “lady friend” Dr. Diana (I call her MissDiana) is very conscientious(spell?) about factory-raised livestock…I’ve learned WAY MORE about such things than I ever wanted(shiver)

      • March 12, 2010 at 2:31 am

*laughs* I don’t have to say where I am on teh scale of eating livestock. Though, lol, i’ll tell you how I got there.
I didn’t used to be a vegetarian, although I’ve never been fond of meat. Then, in my second year at Uni, we did a practical where we worked a week on a chicken farm, a week on a sheep farm and a week on a dairy farm. i realized in those precious moments that animals smell exactly the same way dead as they do alive and they taste that way as well. It happened over night. I left home an omnivore, and that night when i tried to eat my chicken I became a vegetarian. I don’t have a problem raising livestock for food, (heck, it’s my industry) but, lol, i just can’t eat them myself.

I have never had quail…I don’t eat chicken either…you want to hear something weird (nodding heads–Tiffany, Marsha–Alyss still sleeping…) I have a food allergy (that’s what my family calls it anyways)–I can’t eat Turkey! Just a few bites and my throat constricts and my chest hurts. I know! Crazy! I have no other food allergy. I have to avoid hot dogs with turkey meat too. It was very embarrassing as a kid at Thanksgiving–“Tony, try a few bites.” “Naahhh, I’ll pass. Last year, I got sick.” “that was LAST year. Just try it.” (Groan!)

  33. March 10, 2010 at 1:05 am

Morning guys! (And good night to some!)
Right, we have breakfast! Once again, I have cooked oats with toasted almonds, honey, some banana if you want and the naughty for the day: DOUBLE CREAM GREEK YOUGURT.
I can’t think of anything for the carnivores out there so I’ll point out that KYLIE at the R/A club is a meat eater and might have something in her fridge…

    For R/I discussion:
I mentioned this at the bottom but I’ll move it up because I don’t want to scroll too much. Think about this guys, for us to know if Ivy’s soul will be saved for sure… She’ll have to die.
Call me stupid, lol, but I don’t want that to happen.

I hear what you said about Ivy having to die, but I’m thinking that Rinn might sacrifice someone else to see if it works first…he seems like that kind of guy. Or maybe there is someone that R/I come to care about who is in an accident & they have to try something…who knows…there are lots of possibilities!

OK, back to food…I was at the bulk barn yesterday & picked up some junk…lol…fruit juice berries & chocolate eggs…if you can find them, you can have some!

      March 10, 2010 at 11:34 am

You know, I’m really starting to grow fond of these toasted almonds. All I had was this cold cereal at the house.

On the subject of auras and vampires first/second deaths, AND Rachel’s growing black, demon-witch magic skills…Kim has developed SO many options to save Ivy. I really wonder what is “death” in this universe? It’s a fair quesion when so many have the ability to cheat death. Maybe she’ll surprise us and it will be Ivy that saves Rachel…or they’ll save each other from death?

    • March 10, 2010 at 4:01 pm

I’ve been wondering that too. And what happens if Rachel figures it out, but then she isn’t there when Ivy dies!?! So if she figures it out should they try it right away to avoid that possibility? If trying means killing Ivy what a dilema that will be!

        Spoiler***Spoiler***Spoiler***

You’ve read BMS already, Tiffany, right? Did you notice that Ivy declined taking the curse to get smaller(which would extend her life, as all demon curses do//plus–in first book she talked about vampires changing to bats, for instance. you could use a white magic spell to do this, but a black magic/demon curse would extend one’s life. notice we don’t hear about vampires changing form anymore? I tried asking dawn/kim about what would happen to ivy if she excepted a curse in january(i had read the bk and was trying to ask about this)…she said something to the effect of “Antonio you’ll just have to wait and find out, i’m not sure”–wink wink)

Kylie rolls her eyes. “What’s wrong?” she says with a sigh.

“Damn demon is stealin’ ya from me,” he mutters darkly.

“Beej, I’m not his to steal.”

“That’s the thing about stealin’, Kitty.”

        Kylie clears her throat dangerously.

        Beetlejuice looks at her, confused.

“Look, my relationship with Al is completely different than my relationship with you. No worries.” Then she turns to Jenn. “It has been requested I draw a Chibi for you. Do have any prefrences?”

Grumble, stumble…stops. Shuffles over to the stove & turns the small light on. *tummy rumbles* Turns around to find Alyss fast asleep under a blanket with her hands curled up under her nose with the blanket in a death grip. As I watch, Alyss, cuddles deaper into the couch, pulls the blanket to her nose & inhales deeply…Alyssa mumbles something that sounds like Ivy? wow…

I slowly turn to the fridge, pull out some leftovers, turns out the light & tip toes out the door…

I’m not eating but there’s some Basil Pesto pasta if anybody’s game. If you’er up to making it yourself, there’s bacon bits to add to it.

      To get back to Rachel/Ivy.
What do you think about their aura’s blending? Or should I ask that question again when i’ve read BMS? My book’s not here yet but it’s close, i can feel it!

      • Jenn
        March 9, 2010 at 7:41 am

I haven’t made it past chapt 7 in BMS so I’ll answer this…I think this is the way that Rachel will be able to save Ivy. I think that she is going to be able to find a way for Ivy to keep her soul through this…not sure how yet…maybe by holding Ivy so that their auras blend as she dies & putting one of her circles around Ivy’s soul (like she does her own in BMS when the insane one tries to take over) to keep her soul where it belongs? *shrug* just a thought.

      • marsha
        March 9, 2010 at 8:20 am

I think you are on to something there Jenn. I am sure (make that praying) that Kim will not let this end without Rachel finding a way to save Ivy’s soul. Call me selfish too, but I hope Rachel doesn’t grow up so much that she completely loses her childlike belief that things will always work out. I want her to stay a little bit ditsy, not as bad as her mom, but not completly all grown up either.

      • Antonio Rich
        March 9, 2010 at 11:04 am

It DOES smell great in here(clears throat), not like SOME places. And–I’m not just talking about the chili either (sorry. forgot your vegetarian, Alyss).

I was thinking about Rachel saving Ivy’s soul. I’m cool w/that, but I kind of want there to be consequences–ie you can have your soul w/1st death, but no life after 2nd death. I mean, vampires would be practically gods then, right?

Someone said this on Kim’s spoiler page–what if Rachel bound Ivy that last time Ivy bit her? That enabled Rachel to draw comfort from Ivy in the tunnels…just an interesting thought…

      • March 9, 2010 at 2:50 pm

What frightens me about the whole soul saving thing… Think about. For us to know if it works… Ivy will have to die.

    • March 10, 2010 at 4:07 pm

LOL 😉 Alyssa’s dreaming about vampires in her bat suit, eh?

LOL – ‘other half’ still out of town?

      • March 10, 2010 at 6:31 pm

*laughs* Other Half doesn’t life with me. We’re weekend roomies due to the nature of my independence, my work hours and the fact that my family have NO IDEA that I’ve been in a relationship with someone for two years. *laughs again* I keep to myself a lot…

      • March 10, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Hmmm *putting on some hot tea* Come join me on the porch. I’ll make you some tea. (Okay – I’m really wishing we had an actual/non-virtual shared porch right now). Conservative family?

      • March 11, 2010 at 1:06 am

*laughs, takes the tea and goes to sit on porch* Spot on love. And, Other Half is 12 years older than I am… (blush) and I seduced Other Half, not the other way around just to get things clear…

      • March 11, 2010 at 8:57 pm

No blushing! Good for you for knowing what you want! Sounds like you’re worried your family will think you’ve been corrupted 😉

      • March 11, 2010 at 9:31 pm

I don’t know if this feels too personal for a post on the I/R HEA page, but we’re all friends now, so here goes:

I can relate to what you are going though, I think. My story is quite different, I’m sure. But at the same time I’ll bet we have some common threads.

My family isn’t conservative. My parents were pretty great, actually (not that I’m saying conservative parents can’t be great…). My mom in particular was/is always very communicative and open. Even so, when my mom knew what was going on with me (she could see it in the way my “friend” and I were looking at each other, which took me by surprise, since I thought we were oh so discreet) she talked to me about it – asking me (I’ll summarize an hour long talk) “Is this what you want? If so, I’ll be happy for you. But I just don’t want a life for you where you’re not able to be open and proud. And I worry that you won’t find a nice guy if he knows about your past.” Well, I was eighteen. Did I know what I wanted for my life enough to say “yes, mom this is what I want”. I wish. But no – I was scared shitless. Did I realize that she was going to be wrong about her fears for me and my life? Nope. But she was.

Not only that, but I had started going to a church with a friend and it was very conservative. My parents actually hated that I was going somewhere so narrow minded. They were both raised with religion more loosely in the background, which is how they raised me. I guess I just had to find my own way, and not having any strong religious ideas of my own meant for me that I needed to develop them myself. And this was part of that path for me. But it was tough. I had so much guilt and self-hatred to deal with as I also tried to figure out what I wanted. Part of me wishes the whole experience had been different – more positive and self-accepting. Eventually it was, but I had to find that inside me. So here I am – and maybe ultimately a better version of myself for it.

It’s a lot to go through. And it sounds like you have similar things pulling at you, though maybe in your case from different directions.

So – do your parents know anything at all? Is Other Half out?

      • March 12, 2010 at 11:20 am

        *laughs softly*
Life walks a strange road indeed my friend. I’ve never made any choices about my life becuase when ever I thought I made a choice, things turned out differently anyway. For me, I just know that I’m always on the road where I need to be.

It’s an interesting path to walk, this one of ours. I feel that people need to stop every now and again and make sure that they are alright with who they are. It’s so much more for people who choose the mroe difficult paths of life because you;re met with more critisizm.

My parents don’t know. They are very concervative. Products of a Very concervative society. And religious. I decided a long time ago not to rock the boat. They can’t undersatnd because that’s the way they were conditiontioned. I don’t blame them for it, or feel any feelings of… rejection or what other people feel. I just try to be the best daughter than i can be, and the best person. 🙂 Everything else shouldn’t matter.

Other Half’s family know and am rather fond of me I think, lol. The age difference was a shock to everybody but they’re dealing with it well. I’m an old 25.
        More tea? I’ve bought biscuits.

      • March 12, 2010 at 4:05 pm

Yes please! *holds out cup* Hey, buscuits – thanks!

Yeah, I see where you’re coming from. They won’t understand and I’m sure you can imagine everything they would probably say. Eventually on some level I’m sure they’ll realize they have blinders on and will probably choose to keep wearing them unless they are the confrontational type. Even if you don’t feel rejected by them, I would imagine you sometimes get tierd of the pressure of keeping yourself so on gaurd around them. Or feeling like you need to be super-daughter to counter balance the fear of their coming scorn ;-).

I’m glad that with Other Half’s side of things you’ve got a supportive family :-). Twelve years is probably a wider spread than average, but it’s not that much really – age is so relative to the person, like you said. I really don’t know what kind of 35 year old I am (young, old, average). I’m just me.

      • March 14, 2010 at 7:07 am

*sits back from throwing a fruit at Antonio through the window and pours out more tea*
What I get tired off is people pushing me to have a normal life, lol. That’s about it. I fear being ordinary almost as much as I fear spiders.
But no, lol, I’m pretty happy with my life, which is more than some can say. 😉
*takes apple from nearby fruit bowl*
now if you’ll excuse me, i have an apple to pick with Antonio. *goes over to Ivy/Rachel question session*

“Hey, Alyss! Are you here? I brought some Skyline Chili for–”
“SHHH!” says an unknown person leaning over the couch. She straightens. I can see now it’s a woman and she is pulling a blanket over Alyss who is dead to the world, sound asleep. She turns to me and I can see her face. It’s Ivy. Seeing my expression of surprise, she smiles. “Are you trying to wake her?” she says, slowly approaching me. She tilts her head to the side. “Skyline Chili?”
      “Uhhhhh no,” I manage.
Ivy’s smile widens, her fangs visible. “No? It’s not Skyline? I can usually tell the difference between Skyline and Gold Star chili.”
“No,” I laugh, “I mean `no, I’m not trying to wake Alyss.’ I was just going-”
She places a cold finger on my surprised lips. “Shhhhh, Antonio,” she whispers, “Alyss needs her beauty sleep.” She winks at me, then walks around me, drawing a cool line from my lips to my neck as she heads for the door.
I turn to watch her leave, but she doesn’t turn around…

Oh my gosh it was so nice to get outside in that glorious sunshine for just a few hours today. Wish I could have taken you all with me. I just wanted to add my all time favorite Ivy/Rachel moment. I left some of my books at the office, so I’m not sure which book it is in, but I’m pretty sure it’s the one where Skimmer follows Rachel out and has her little “hissy fit” and later Rachel sees Ivy’s footprints and knows she heard her admit to Skimmer that she loved Ivy. When Ivy backed Rachel up against that wall, told her to close her eyes so she could give her “just a little taste”, then kissed her so slowly and sweetly. Holy crap! I think I reread that bit about five times! I don’t know why that passage was so seductive to me, but I would have slid down the wall if I was Rachel. *fans herself briskly* Is it hot in here?

    • March 7, 2010 at 4:09 pm

*laughs* I have to say, that was one of my favorite scenes as well. And, you have to wonder about why Rachel bit Kisten. There was… something if Ivy there. 🙂 Or rather, some yearning for something that she wanted but couldn’t quite get. I realize that Rachel’s taking a long time to get over Kisten, but somehow… Ja. LOL. I think that if something ever happened to Ivy she won’t survive it. I really hope Kim Harrison picks up that story line. I really do.

I’m trying to prepare myself for them not winding up tigether, but I just hate any characters taht come into the story and come between them. The blond character in Ley Line Drifter looks like she is being slowly put into the story for Ivy’s love interest. Damn I hate that.

Hmm. I wanted to ask – Who’s Daryl? I didn’t read Ley Line Drifter so I have no idea where she falls into the story.

    March 5, 2010 at 5:11 pm

Antonio, good job you so got it right!
I gotta add to what Tiffany said about the hospital scene in WWBC. Ivy at Rachel’s bedside telling Rachel she’s like a master vamp, that she scares the crap out of her while wants to wrap herself in Rachel’s soul, wanting what she can’t have. And telling Rachel she doesn’t care if Rachel hurts her, that she wants love and doesn’t want pain to feel like love. That whole scene. Ivy really opens up.
    I gotta read BMS faster!

  44. Antonio Rich
    March 5, 2010 at 12:54 pm

Alyssa–I was re-reading your list below and i thought of two scenes i really liked–1)in book 4 after the van, they were out shopping, and rachel was tired, and she and ivy were sitting on a bench and rachel shocked ivy by saying she still wanted to keep trying to share something and Ivy telling her there was no way, she was afraid she would kill rachel…loved that scene. i think Kim has said that was her favorite book, and recently she went back and re-read all the books in the series, and she said something to the effect that she was “re-thinking” the I/R relationship to some degree(I remember we jumped on that on the DPage 🙂 )
    2) BK #6 after they “tried” again, they went shopping and Ivy was all shy and bashful trying on clothes in front of Rachel, secretly fearing that Rachel was going to tell her that she was moving out, rachel hiding her bite w/a charm…Rachel whips off the charm saying she wasn’t ashamed of Ivy or what they did, but ashamed of herself and that she “wanted it” but “couldn’t have it” in the future…I always wanted to follow those two out to the car on the drive home(I’ve thought of writing that scene for fun)…Ivy accepted it, but I wanted that scene to go further

    • Jenn
      March 5, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Oh I agree with you heartily on both scenes! Those are 2 of my favs as well…I just wish Ivy wouldn’t run away so quickly…
If you write that scene, I will be SO ready to read it!!!!

    • March 5, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Yeah – nice adds! I loved both of those moments.

I think one of my favorite peices of the van scene is that Rachel realized that Ivy wasn’t trying to hurt her and was trying so desprately (and unsuccessfully) to tell her she knew, even as Ivy was shutting all her openness down. Totally heartwrenching! And the bench scene you mention afterwards was perfect – Ivy’s shock that she hadn’t ruined it. Even though she stayed gaurded, you could see the tiny glimmer of hope penetrate.

Here’s another great one: in WWBC when Rachel and Ivy are in the hospital and they walk through the children’s wing where Ivy has been volunteering – I think Rachel saw Ivy more fully as a person in all her dimensions in that moment. Rachel is always thinking of Ivy in terms of whether or not she can give Ivy what she needs and unsure of how much she wants to give her – but here I think she sees Ivy as also giving and nurturing in return and you can almost sense her double-take, I think. Not that she is totally shocked, since she knows Ivy is a good person, but maybe she sensed it with her heart instead of just with her head in that moment?

    • March 6, 2010 at 5:50 am

Hmm. I have to agree with those scenes as well. Another one that was electric was in Book 2 where Ivy freaked out when Rachel said she was going to Piscary. It was when we met Glen for the first time I think and he just appeared in their home and she almost bit him. Then, Ivy freaked out at some point and pinned Rachel up against the wall. I loved that, espesually when Rachel realized that Ivy was really scared. She handled that very well. (Rachel). Also in the same book, when Rachel and Ivy had their last sparring match together.
I loved the conversations that Rachel always heard between Kirsten and Ivy and then, something I just remembered, although Ivy’s not there, I liked the scene where Rachel and Skimmer fought in book 5 when Skimmer tried to tell Rachel to back off. Paint me purple and call me Aubergine but I think that Rachel was REALLY jealous there.
Again, there’s something… tragically beautiful about their relationship. In my oppinion it really carries the series.

    Morning Gang,

    And TGIF!
*takes a big step back from the stove, stretches & turns to face the room*
Holy Crap! Who painted the room PINK? I thought we said Purple?
Ok, so belly up to the bar people, I made french toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, and fruit salad. Oh, yes, the meat was cooked in a different pan & all the utensils were seperate too!

OK question: Once the series is actually complete, who thinks that Kim will give us a glimpse into the future of the hollows either in a epilogue or as a short story? If so, what would you like to see?

      March 5, 2010 at 9:20 am

Oooh, pancakes! Maple syrup too? And coffee, please have coffee. I feel like baking today. Does anyone like peanutbutter snaps? Yum.

Of course there is cofee, tea, hot chocolate, a couple fruit juices, syrup, cinnamon, peanutbutter, jam, honey, whip cream & whatever else you would like…

      March 5, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Now this is a breakfast! I’m a little late, so I’ll just warm this up in the microwave…where’s the–KYLIE!!! Crap! I know it was Kylie that took it…

I’ve wondered about an epilogue…At the end of the Harry Potter series, the author added a final chapter to show us what everyone was up to…I think, 16 years in the future…? I always wanted to ask Kim that – it’s a good question – but I have a feeling I already know the answer – “plenty of time to figure that out, Antonio…Patience.” 😉 If it was up to me, I would love an epilogue–but, i doubt it will happen.

    • March 5, 2010 at 1:26 pm

Awesome! I stopped in to see what was for breakfast. Smells great!
*checks watch, joins Antonio at microwave*

An epilogue would be cool. Let me think about it over my coffee.

    Again.
    Sigh.
I’m all for painting it purple.

  47. March 4, 2010 at 1:54 pm

At least one person has commented … somewhere (Kim’s blog and/or at BBB) that Skimmer and Ivy’s past relationship was abusive to Ivy. I was wondering if that the impression you guys got?

    • March 4, 2010 at 3:57 pm

Well, Kisten felt Skimmer was a bad influence, but i don’t know if he ever got into why…we saw how she manipulated Ivy in prison, but i don’t know if i can call it abusive…?

    • marsha
      March 4, 2010 at 4:31 pm

I do not like Skimmer so I am prejudiced. In the beginning I wasn’t really sure about her, just thought NO stay away from Rachel’s Ivy. Later on there were definite hints that she was a bit too ambitious and obsessive and wanted a “Tamwood Heir” for political reasons. She also seemed to want to “control” Ivy by using her bloodlust and telling her she is a monster and that is all she’ll ever be. But she did kill Piscary and save Ivy’s life. Hey, I’m not going to like Ivy with anyone but Rachel, what can I say.

    • March 4, 2010 at 6:26 pm

Hmm. I’m not sure how i felt about Skimmer. I think that Skimmer really loved Ivy. Not just for teh sexual high that she could give her, but for Ivy. Otherwise she’d have let Piscary kill her and become her Scion. But no, she kept Ivy alive because she loved her soul I suspect, her warmness of heart. Her love.
I think in the beginning it wasn’t abusive, and perhaps not even later. but, it was certainly manipulative towards the end. But, perhaps she had been pushed into it. Imagine how frustrating it must be, loving someone who you knew loved someone else more than you (rachel). Then, watch every day as that person (rachel) ‘pushes’ that love away in a sense. That must be hard.
I’m not saying I like Skimmer, but – I think in a sense I do understand her.
What will her fate be? Well, i suspect that she’s going to die in prison and come back to bug them as an undead…

      • March 4, 2010 at 6:51 pm

Yeah – this was my reaction too.

    • March 4, 2010 at 6:46 pm

She definitely lashed out manipulatively in the scene where she and Rachel visit her in jail. Before though? I thought I remembered Ivy thinking of it as a time that helped her – helped her bring something emotional and positive to her bloodlust. I believe this was in the short story from Ivy’s point of view. Am I remembering that right?

      • Jenn
        March 5, 2010 at 7:32 am

I believe that you are remembering it right…
Also, I agree with you both on your Skimmer take. I can’t stand her as she is now…but I think maybe her jealousy of Rachel was enhanced/twised by Piscary.

      • Antonio Rich
        March 5, 2010 at 12:42 pm

I remember Kisten thinking aloud to Rachel that Skimmer made her worse…but, maybe he was just jealous…

    March 4, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Whoo-hoo! Alyssa you nailed it. I made a list same as yours. You’re so right with every point. I would add when Rachel overheard, eavesdropped?, on Ivy and Kisten and Kisten was trying to get Ivy to face her fears/love for Rachel. That was pretty moving. It’s all the times, too, Rachel thinks about Ivy’s scent, her hair, her silky voice, and on and on…

    • March 4, 2010 at 6:23 pm

Ooh good adds Phil! – I love that she thinks about her scent (and knows it so well), her hair, and her grey silk voice 😉

  49. March 4, 2010 at 3:43 am

*Walks in, half asleep even though she just came back from the shops*
Right, breakfast time. I’ve got us some porrige oats, toasted almonds and honey with a choice of Rice milk or normal milk. Go wild, there’s enough to feed an army.

As for R/I – as I’ve said before, there was something there from the beginning. It’s strange. I think some of my favorite R/I scenes are the following->
Book 1 – Table scene, naturally.
Book 2 – After Ivy comes back from Piscary and Rachel has to comfort her. That scene was so… Alive. Angsty, terribly, disturbing. But alive. It started the moment you heard Kirsten’s bike and ends when Ivy falls asleep. You could smell everything, see it, feel it. I loved it.
Book 3 – At Ivy’s home, meeting Skimmer. When I met Skimmer i was like: YEAH! I KNEW IT! IVY PLAYS BOTH SIDES!! YEAHY!!!!!
Book 4 – The Van Scene. Hello.
Book 5 – The kissing scene was alright, but I loved the interaction between R/I when R had the curse inside her. Particulary Ivy’s words – “Vampires go home when their scared…” That just somehow stayed with me.
*AAAHH!!! MY PORRIGE!!! BURNING!!! RUNS TO STOVE*
Book 6 – hehehe. Bitten again. Loved that, espesually when they… Lingered.
Book 7 – When Rachel was in the hospital and when they returned from Skimmer. Everything from there onwards is just cool. love it, love it, love it.

Their relationship is unique. I have never encountered an author ‘brave’ enough so to say to play with a female/female relationship in a popular series of books. The sexual tension, the friendship and the obvious love between the two is amazing. When I think of the two, i somehow always hear rachel’s words right after Mia almost killed Ivy.
    “I can’t live with you being dead…”
    Strong words.

    • March 4, 2010 at 9:02 am

I said this to Kylie over at the “other” club (this is SO funny! It’s like we’re building our own little sims version of the Hallows…OMGosh! Is that a great idea or what! An RPG of the hallows), but if any of the Nine(I’m getting all Battlestar Gallactica now) want to write a new header to the page(it could be anything…a bit of script, a question, quiz, whatever…)we all have the ability to edit…play with it(but ask the previous author if it’s ok to change–OKeeDokee?)

This is such a fun place, club, forum, whatever. So far *relief* no spoiler stuff so I can pull up a chair. Alyssa, you cracked me up describing R/I early on. Steamy hot!
So what made me a R/I fan? Yup, they have chemistry, sexual chemistry, and Rachel hasn’t completely ignored that. She says it won’t ever happen, but she can’t let go of the sensations she gets. So sexual tension. It drives the reader and it drives R/I. Does that make sense?

    • March 4, 2010 at 3:35 am

Yes, lol, I read long ago that Kim said to someone that if it was up to her editor the two would get together, but she was scared that if she did that the series would die becuase the sexual tension is half the pull. This was a long time ago, lol, i think she’s changed her mind since then.

I have a nice comfy recliner that I can contibute, if we can keep Antonio’s butt out of it. I’m making homemade pizza for dinner with thinly sliced onions, eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes, fresh basil and roasted garlic. Three cheeses too! Ya’ll bring a wine!

      Jum… and vegetarian! I knew there’s a reason I like you…

  53. March 3, 2010 at 4:52 pm

*walks in all dressed in black like trainee batman and pops over to the refreshment table* Right, I have left overs:
Here’s Humus, Pita bread (fresh), Spinach and Feta Pasta, Fruit Salad, Tons of Honey and a whole thermos of filter coffee. It’s all safe, lol.
So – a question for the club:
What attracted you to the R/I pairing? Why are you in the HEA club?
For me – it’s the obvious chemistry that they had in the first three to four books. There was something in the way Rachel described Ivy in the beginning that just immediately made me go – PING – on the gaydar front. Then, when Ivy crawled over that table… I practically had kittens of joy. Things just got better from there.

    • Marsha
      March 3, 2010 at 5:06 pm

I really don’t know why I want Rachel and Ivy to be together so much. Maybe it is the way Kim was so skillful in writing the undercurrents of their attraction to each other. I really think they both see something in the other that they are missing in themselves, and know at some level that together they would make an unbeatable whole. Plus I am a huge romantic and think that the chance for real love is worth going through hell for.

      • Antonio Rich
        March 3, 2010 at 11:38 pm

Well said…I think this feeling cuts across so many lines–men, women, gay, straight–this relationship is, i think, one of the most intrigueing in all of literature…

      • March 4, 2010 at 3:49 am

        *laughs* very true.
I think, again – that’s what pulled me to the books is how real they are. There’s something… else in the hollows. Perhaps it’s a reflection of Kim-san’s unique soul and way of looking at the world. I don’t really know, lol, but it’s amazing.

    • Antonio Rich
      March 3, 2010 at 8:02 pm

I never stalked an author(or a series) before Kim’s Rachel Morgan series. Yes, It’s no secret that I love me some Ivy. Why? I don’t know…She has such a “need” for Rachel…a gut churning, can’t sleep, overpowering “need” for Rachel that goes beyond a conventional “crush” love story. It’s not that she’s pathetic about her love for Rachel, in fact, she tries so hard to keep it together. She projects strength, not weakness. But–we know it’s not ALL about love…there’s a need for stability, security, in the beginning – a compulsion that was unhealthy(inspired by someone – Piscarry – abusing her). It must be so frightening to know you could die and come back w/a very stunted emotional capacity and possibily no one to love and take care of you…OK–maybe there’s a bit of “white knight syndrom” going on…but, it’s more than that…I want Rachel to love her, accept her…I guess that’s because i identify more w/Ivy…everybody wants to be loved, right? I know there’s probably NOT going to be a romantic HEA, but I hope they will always acknowledge what’s special about their friendship and cultivate it as it grows and changes over time…

      • Marsha
        March 3, 2010 at 9:27 pm

Well stated Antonio, and I agree with you completely. It is going to break my heart though when/if they are paired up with other people. Somehow it just doesn’t feel right.

      • Jenn
        March 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

I agree with everything except I’m really hoping for that romantic HEA. I think they would always be just a bit jealous of each others partners…

    • March 3, 2010 at 10:27 pm

Yeah – the moment I read Rachel watching Ivy eat her food with chop sticks and Rachel thought she looked sensual, I was hooked. Of course, at the moment, I told myself I was imagining it because it was so unexpected. But after one or two more moments like that, even before the table crawl, I was offically unable to stop reading. “Kittens of joy” when Ivy crawled across that table? LOL – Yeah, that’s a great way to put it Alyssa!

I’ve never before or since looked up an author or a character online either – but after reading A Fist Full of Charms I just had to know if there were other people out there who were as into Ivy and Rachel as I am. It was an unexpected treasure to find Kim herself and all of the content at her webpage in that.

So WHY is it such a consuming story? For me it’s because great love stories have great obstacles. My favorite love stories have always been the ones where the characters burn for each other across space and time before it finally happens for them. Also, I feel exactly like Antonio (nicely said!). I identify with the way Ivy is in love – you can tell how strongly she feels it, how soulful it is, how she sees something in Rachel’s tear and is willing to wait. Now that is romance! That their souls “resonate” when they touch, that they can heal, feed, and protect each other’s souls. Absolutely beautiful.

As I’ve read the books I’ve kept thinking I’m seeing all these little signs and symbols, like a trail of breadcrumbs pointing to what they will eventually be together. Two parts where the whole is greater than the sum. The primary colors of red and blue surrounded in an aura of gold. A perfect circle.

I know it’s silly (well, not to you guys), but I’ve actually been a bit depressed lately at the thought that there might not be a romantic HEA for them. If so, it will feel memorable and great, but sad. Their HEA might turn out to be them coming to a happy non-romantic place with thir soul connection. It’s still beautiful. I’m just going to feel like Pip in Great Expectations trying to be happy watching Estella walk away as a friend, after holding a candle for her for so long. *sigh*

      • Antonio Rich
        March 3, 2010 at 11:45 pm

I think what i used to REALLY be frustrated by was Ivy was put in the position of sleeping with anybody and everybody to slate her blood lust…and/or seeking comfort w/Rynn cormel as kind of his concubine…I tell you, this was extremely frustrating for me–especially, when Rachel didn’t seem to care as long as Ivy was easier to live with…that’s why i’m frankly encouraged if she is dating someone steadily that she likes/enjoys…It’s not Rachel, but I’d be happy to see her find love w/someone.

      • Jenn
        March 4, 2010 at 3:14 pm

*sigh* oh wow, Tiffany you hit the nail exactly on the head…I couldn’t have said it better myself…thank you for giving what I am feeling a voice…

    • Jenn
      March 4, 2010 at 3:07 pm

For me, it started from the very beginning of DWW. The way that Rachel is always describing Ivy, what she is wearing, how she moves etc. When Ivy crawled across the table, I was so excited…I though yes! this is going to be good!!!!
But I think the most telling part for me is when Rachel can clearly picture herself crawling into bed with Ivy. She knows how Ivy will looks as she turns over to face her…sigh…when you can picture that, you KNOW there is something there.

      • March 4, 2010 at 3:32 pm

Exactly! Those kind of details are what make me think it’s mutual – which is why I root for their HEA.

“I call chair! I call–OOOF!” (neatly hip-checked to the floor by Alyssa)…”I’m tellin’!” (Grumble…) “Fine! I’ll sit in this Hello Kitty bean-bag chair Kylie brought over.” (Looks in mini-fridge) “Dudes! Someone drank all my Diet Dr. Pepper!”

Since I’ve read BMS I have to hold my tongue on some of this, but I’ll say this: R&I have known each other for…I think 6 years, and lived together almost 2 years. Shouldn’t they be more comfortable with each other by now? They don’t act like friends, they keep so much from each other, and even Rachel in her own thoughts has been closed-minded to even thinking about her feelings for Ivy. However, i liked BMS–there is progress on this front–OK the “passion” is dialed down(Kim warned us of this), but…w/o revealing too much (Yet–Bk Club future topics)I was encouraged…nuff said… 😉

    • March 3, 2010 at 12:29 pm

This is beyond bad boy mystique. And thank you Aheila love, I must remember that not everyone shares my opinions. There are a lot of people who are wrong out there 🙂

      • March 3, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Oh come now, Marsha-chan! You are talking to a girl lusting after a horn dog dead guy. I understand Al is a very not nice guy, and he has *looks around* several flaws.
